One of the questions I’m asked most often is:
“Where should we go?”

But before I can answer that, I usually need to know something else...
“How much time do you have?”

Because the perfect destination for a long weekend is rarely the perfect destination for a month-long adventure.

Three nights? I’d be looking at somewhere like San Sebastián or Marrakech.
Ten days? Georgia or Sri Lanka.
Two weeks? Japan suddenly becomes a fantastic option.
A month? That’s when destinations like Australia or the Silk Road countries really come into their own.

The best itineraries aren’t built around countries.
They’re built around pace.

Knowing how much time you have available is often the difference between a trip that feels rushed and one that feels effortless.

So, if I had 3 - 5 nights, 1 week, 10 days, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 1 month or even 6 weeks...
These are the destinations I’d choose.

Family holidays don’t have to be a choice between adventure and relaxation.

Recently, I designed this Costa Rica itinerary for a family of four who wanted a balance of wildlife, adventure, sightseeing and beach time… without returning home completely exhausted.
So instead of trying to cram in every corner of the country, we focused on creating the right route and pace.

🌋 Arenal for volcano views, hot springs and rainforest adventures
🌿 Monteverde for misty cloud forests, hidden wildlife and a sense of discovery
🌊 Nicoya for laid-back beach days, surf lessons, sunsets and a slower pace of life

The Nicoya Peninsula is one of the world’s famous Blue Zones – places where people live longer, healthier lives making it the perfect place to embrace Costa Rica’s ‘Pura Vida’ philosophy before heading home.

The best family holidays aren’t about ticking off as much as possible.
They’re about finding the balance between excitement and connection, adventure and downtime, so everyone comes home with memories they’ll talk about for years to come.

Planning a family adventure? I’d love to help you create something that feels just right for your family.

Save this for future Costa Rica inspiration. 🇨🇷

Sometimes the best travel inspiration doesn’t come from somewhere completely different… it comes from finding a destination that gives you the same feeling you loved last time 🌍🫶🏻

- Loved Japan? You might fall in love with South Korea.
- Loved Costa Rica? Borneo could be your next great adventure.
- Loved South Africa? Botswana might just become your favourite safari destination.

As travel specialists, we’re often looking beyond the obvious recommendations and helping clients discover destinations they may never have considered otherwise.
Because finding the right destination isn’t about ticking countries off a list.
It’s about understanding what made a trip special in the first place and finding somewhere that captures that same magic in a completely different way.

Which pairing surprised you most?

One of the things I love most about my job is that no two trips are ever the same 🌍

Every itinerary starts with a conversation.
What excites you?
How do you like to travel?
What matters most?
Where should we splurge and where can we save?
The goal isn’t to book the most expensive trip.
It’s to create the right trip.

For Katie, that meant listening carefully to what kind of trip the whole family were hoping for Costa Rica and designing an itinerary that balanced experiences, pace and budget to create something that felt perfect for everyone.

Whether it’s wildlife in Costa Rica, cherry blossom season in Japan, a safari in South Africa or a family adventure in Canada, every itinerary is tailored to the people travelling.

Receiving messages like this after planning an adventure is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do ❤️

Thank you, Katie for trusting me with your adventure.

People often think planning a holiday starts with choosing a destination. In reality, it usually starts with a problem:

“We want somewhere special, but only have 10 nights.”
“We’ve done the Maldives - what next?”
“We want a family holiday that everyone will enjoy.”
“We’d love a safari, but think it’s out of budget.”

These are the conversations I have every day. The truth is, there isn’t always one perfect destination. The right answer depends on your priorities, your budget, your travel style and what you want the trip to feel like. That’s where expert advice makes all the difference.

In this post, I’m sharing some of the most common travel dilemmas I hear and how I’d approach solving them.

Which one sounds most like you?

Not all “family-friendly” holidays are created equal… especially if your children need more than a pool and a kids club. 🛶⛵️

For families with busy, energetic kids, the right hotel can completely change the experience – we’re talkin watersports, sports academies, adventure programmes, exceptional childcare, family suites and enough going on to avoid hearing “I’m bored” by day two.

From activity-led favourites like Club Med and Neilson, to luxury all-inclusive ease with Ikos, big-wow family favourites like MAXX Royal, and more considered options like Sani, Falkensteiner, Forte Village or Feuerstein… the best family holidays aren’t just about where you go, but choosing the right style of resort for how your family actually travels.

Because sometimes luxury family travel isn’t about finding the fanciest hotel… it’s about finding the one where everyone genuinely has a better time.

If you haven’t yet planned summer 2026 or you’re already thinking ahead for summer 2027, this is exactly where choosing well can make all the difference.

I’d love to help you plan your family holiday.

If Oman isn’t on your travel wish list yet, it probably should be. 🇴🇲

Think dramatic mountains, golden deserts, turtle-filled coastlines, luxury beach resorts and some of the warmest hospitality you’ll find anywhere in the world.
What I love most is how much variety you can experience in just two weeks, without constantly hopping on flights or spending hours in transit.
I’ve mapped out my ideal first-timers itinerary in the slides above, perfect for anyone looking for adventure, culture and relaxation all in one trip.

Would Oman make it onto your travel list?

Most people only see the trip when everything goes perfectly. What they don’t see is what happens behind the scenes when something doesn’t. ✈️👩🏼‍💻

Flight cancellations, schedule changes and airline disruption are actually far more common than people realise, they’re just getting more media attention right now. As travel experts, it’s something we deal with regularly.

When a cancellation comes through, the first thing we assess is simple:Where are you right now, and what’s the best possible solution for your situation?
If you’re already overseas, our priority is getting you home as smoothly and stress-free as possible. That might mean:

* sourcing alternative flights
* rearranging transfers
* extending hotel stays
* changing rail tickets
* liaising with suppliers
* rerouting parts of your itinerary

If you haven’t travelled yet, we’ll focus on finding alternatives with minimal impact to your trip whether that’s different flights, revised routing or adjusting your itinerary altogether.

And if a trip genuinely can’t be saved, we’ll help arrange an alternative holiday or process a refund where applicable.

This is the side of travel people rarely see.The late nights.
The airline hold music.
The constant checking of routes and availability.
The problem-solving.
But this is also exactly why having somebody in your corner matters.

When things go wrong, your travel expert becomes your biggest advocate fighting the battle with the airline for you, exploring every possible option and treating your trip as if it were our own.

If you’d like me in your corner should something go wrong, get in touch to plan your trip with added peace of mind.
