Right now, one of Morocco’s biggest equestrian festivals is taking place: the Moussem of Moulay Abdellah, running from August 7–15, 2026 in Moulay Abdellah, just south of El Jadida.

It’s one of the largest and most spectacular horse and culture festivals in the country. What to expect:

A massive Tbourida (Fantasia) — around 2,000 riders and horses from across Morocco compete in synchronized riding displays
A huge tent camp — hundreds of thousands of visitors and traditional tents line the coast
A full cultural program — falconry, live music, and religious ceremonies alongside the horse shows

If you happen to be in the area, it’s well worth a visit.

Expérience superbe du début à la fin, que ce soit à cheval, en terme de logement ou de nourriture.. Le service rendu est de qualité. C’est le propriétaire qui nous a accompagné lors de notre trek de 3 jours. Il a été très attentif et s’est adapté au besoin. Un de mes rêves réalisé dans le meilleur des cadres. Moi qui n’ai pas pour habitude d’aller deux fois au même endroit je réfléchis déjà à quand je vais pouvoir poser mes prochains congés. I had several wonderful rides with the team at Equi Evasion, including a full-day ride with a picnic. My guide, Abdul, was very attentive and chose the perfect horse for me. I had so much fun and an amazing time. One of the highlights for me was the opportunity to enjoy some exhilarating fast gallops, which made the rides especially exciting and unforgettable.
The team takes great care to ensure that everything is just right, and I always felt safe while riding through the beautiful natural surroundings. What impressed me most was how much they care not only about their guests but also about the well-being of their horses. It is clear that the animals are treated with great respect and care, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
My husband, who is a beginner rider, joined us for one ride, and he was also matched with a very suitable horse that carried him safely and confidently throughout the ride.
Thank you to the whole team for such a wonderful experience. I will definitely come back!
