As for its history, Majorelle blue is named after Jacques Majorelle, a French painter who fell in love with Marrakech during a visit in the 1920s. He built a stunning garden in the heart of the city, which he filled with exotic plants and adorned with vibrant blue structures, including his art studio. The intense blue hue he used throughout the garden became known as Majorelle blue. After Majorelle’s death, the garden fell into disrepair until it was later restored by the fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé.
