Ulcinj is situated in the most southern end of the Adriatic coast. Old Town Ulcinj is an astonishing fortress, with its walls rising directly from the sea. This part of the town served as a prison in the past, and there is a legend that the famous Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes spent five years imprisoned here. He even gave name Dolcinea to one of the main characters of his novel Don Quixote, which roughly translated means a girl from Ulcinj, and many landscapes described in this masterpiece match the landscapes surrounding the city.

Way back in 1988, before Brad Pitt was a household name, he started his movie career in Montenegro. The Dark Side of the Sun, American-Yugoslavian drama directed by Montenegrin Božidar Nikolić was Pitt’s debut as leading man in a movie and was filmed in Kotor. He was paid a grand total of $1,523 for seven weeks of work, but the country must have made an impression, because he was back in 2010 saying he wanted to show Montenegro to then wife, Angelina Jolie.

The Boka Kotorska Bay, UNESCO's Heritage Site, is the most beautiful and southern fjord in Europe!
Out in the bay from Perast are the twin islands of St George and Our Lady of the Rocks. Both are religious pilgrimage sites but Our Lady of the Rocks is a man-made island founded over 500 years ago. The legend goes that sailors spotted an image of the Virgin Mary on a rock here. So each time they had a successful voyage they added another rock as an offering as they passed. Eventually so many were added that an island emerged and the church was built on top of it. At present, every year on July 22, during the Fašinada holiday, local people pay tribute to the tradition, sail to the island by boats and throw stones into the water.

Lake Skadar is the largest lake in Southern Europe and one of the biggest bird reserves in Europe! It’s home to over 270 bird species and is a vitally important stop for migrating birds. Among the most popular on the lake are the Dalmatian Pelicans. Efforts to protect their breeding grounds have yielded good results and now visitors can take a trip in a traditional čun boat to see the birds..
Along with majestic pelicans, depending on the time of year (autumn and winter are best for migratory birds) visitors can expect to see pygmy cormorants, storks, egrets, ibises, herons and falcons.
The whole area of the lake and around the lake is a national park in Montenegro and there’s a lot to see and do there, especially if you’re into outdoor activities..

The monastery of Ostrog is one of the most visited shrines in the Christian world. It is carved in rocks and founded in the 17th century by Saint Basil.

The second deepest canyon in the world, and the deepest in Europe, Tara Canyon is 82km long and at its deepest point, it is 1.300m deep!
Đurđevića Tara bridge was built before the II World war, and in that period it was highest bridge in Yugoslavia. During the construction it had bigger scaffolding than the body of the bridge. Just few years after it was opened , during the war, it had to be partly destroyed so the German forces could not reach Žabljak, and western part of Montenegro. In the mining of the bridge, even its constructor was involved. Still, bridge holds on more than 170 meters above Tara river...If you are an adventurer next to the bridge is a zip line, and it spreads from one to the other side of the canyon!

Durmitor National Park is decorated with 18 glacial lakes called "mountain eyes". The forebodingly-named Black Lake is the highlight, the most-visited spot in the entire park and one that deserves every single visitor it gets!
In 1952 Durmitor with its surface of 39.000 ha was declared as a National Park, and since 1980 is officially listed as UNESCO World Natural and Cultural Heritage. Its highest peak is Bobotov K*k with altitude of 2.525 m above sea level, which makes it the highest peak in Montenegro.

The oldest tree in Europe lives in Bar! The Old Olive Tree is over 2.000 years old. Its volume is about 10m. The tree is a traditional trademark for the area and is said to have many legends attached to it: one of them being that at one time families would visit the tree to make peace during a dispute.
