🏃 Bagan hosted “Bagan Temple Run Event, Marathon” invites runners to experience an unforgettable race through one of the UNESCO sites, the world’s most extraordinary cultural place. The event offers 3 different options; 10 km race, half marathon (21 km) and full marathon (42 km) and 981 runners completed across three categories.

The flag-off starts at 6:00AM local time, starting from the ground near the southern arch of Ananda Temple in Taungbi Village of Bagan, an iconic Buddhist temple nearly a thousand years old.

During it, runners will traverse routes lined with thousands of temples, monasteries, and pagodas, one of the unforgettable experiences which stepped into the living history of ancient times.

The Majestic Serenity of Yangon’s Chaukhtatgyi Reclining Buddha

If you visit Yangon city, this is one of the city’s most impressive spiritual landmarks: the Chaukhtatgyi Reclining Buddha. Housed beneath a vast steel pavilion, this immense Buddha—stretching 65 meters long—offers visitors a peaceful escape from the city’s bustle and a glimpse into Myanmar’s rich Buddhist heritage.

The original reclining Buddha was built in 1907, but after structural problems and an expression many found too severe, it was dismantled mid-century. The community rebuilt it with donations from local and international Buddhists, unveiling the graceful new statue in 1966. The result is the serene, beautifully detailed image that draws pilgrims and travelers today.

The Buddha’s gentle expression, bright glass eyes, and gold-patterned robe make the statue feel almost alive. His red-painted palms and soles feature 108 sacred symbols—traditional marks representing the qualities of an enlightened being. Though the surrounding steel structure feels industrial, it adds historical charm, with beams stamped from the colonial era.

Despite its popularity,Chaukhtatgyi remains a deeply spiritual site. Locals come throughout the day to pray, meditate, and make offerings. Around the hall, small shrines represent the eight planetary posts of Burmese astrology, where visitors often pay respects based on the day of their birth.
