BHUTAN, BUMTHANG JOURNEY

Explore with us the spiritual heart of the Kingdom of happiness

Bhutan has a rich and unique cultural heritage that has largely remained intact because of its isolation from the rest of the world until the mid-20th century. The country is a sanctuary for Buddhism, where ancient monasteries and sacred sites harmoniously blend with breathtaking landscapes.

Begin your journey in Paro, where you’ll acclimate and relax after your arrival.
On the first day, explore historic sites such as Kyichu Monastery, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most sacred temples. The next day we will take a scenic flight to Bumthang, the spiritual heartland of Bhutan. Here, explore revered holy sites, including Kenchogsum Lhakhang, the Guru Padmasambhava Temple, Jambay Lhakhang, and Kurje Lhakhang.

Continuing our journey, venture to Trongsa, centrally located and home to the majestic Trongsa Dzong, the largest fortress in Bhutan that offers a glimpse into Bhutan’s royal history and provides breath-taking views of the surrounding mountains. Next, we will find the breathtaking Punakha Valley, renowned for the Punakha Dzong, a stunning fortress situated at the confluence of the Pho and Mo rivers. Enjoy a scenic riverside picnic, soaking in the tranquil beauty of the valley.

Drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s vibrant capital. While in Thimphu, marvel at the towering Buddha Dordenma statue, explore Bhutan’s rich textile heritage at the Royal Textile Museum, and stroll through the bustling city markets for a taste of local life.

Return to Paro for the highlight of your trip a hike to the legendary Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang Monastery), perched dramatically on a cliffside overlooking the Paro Valley. This sacred site is one of Bhutan’s most iconic landmarks, offering both a spiritual and breathtakingly scenic experience.

This carefully crafted 8-day itinerary offers the perfect balance of cultural immersion, outdoor adventure, and relaxation, ensuring a truly enriching experience in the Land of the Thunder Dragon.

Hello from sunny Sri Lanka! ☀️🪷

I’m now investigating the best routes and accommodation in this beautiful country for our next journey here (planned for March 2025).

200 year legacy ayurvedic resort, places where Buddha gave teachings, beautiful monasteries built in caves, Unesco heritage sites, tea plantations, luxurious hotels in colonial style and of course the warm sea with scenic beaches! All these jems are located few hours away from each other and can make it a journey to remember!

Stay tuned for the journeys updates!

Literal translation: Each country’s customs are different, just as each meadow’s grass is different.

Meaning: Don’t expect things to be the same when you go to a different place.
This is one of the Mongolian proverbs that are helpful when you travel. It also encourages the trait of being adaptable in the place you are going to. It is important to know that a country’s customs will be different from the place that you grew up in. When this is established, it will be easier for you to adjust and adapt.

New article by Telo Tulku Rinpoche about Inner World Journey to Nepal and Bhutan is in our blog! Here are some highlights:

On this Inner World Journey I was leading a group of 8 people who are from very different professions, but one thing they all had in common was the fast paced life they were living in metropolitan cities. All energy and resources they possessed was being used for external development and they were all successful in that, but something more important was still missing in their lives. This is why they joined the Inner world journey with me to visit Nepal and Bhutan.

Our journey was filled with so much spirituality and discussions about the topic of faith, refuge, and spiritual powers. When we are able to reflect on our emotions, we suddenly realize how little we know about ourselves deep down inside.

Traveling to various countries should never be just to see world wonders or historical sites, but along the way we can get guidance how to understand ourselves better. Inner World Journey is here to provide you with some support on this path and the proper tools on how to manage emotions in a fast paced world.

BHUTAN AND NEPAL JOURNEY
Unveil Spiritual Treasures Between Valleys and Peaks

We will start our journey from Kathmandu, a city where ancient history and bustling modernity collide in a kaleidoscope of sights, sounds, and colors. Steeped in rich cultural heritage, Kathmandu is home to numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the iconic Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple. This mesmerizing city, nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, serves as a gateway to myriad adventures, and we will start our journey to Bhutan from here.

Bhutan is a land of timeless beauty and profound spirituality, offering travelers immersive experiences in its stunning natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage. We will start from Paro, with landmarks like the Paro Dzong and the National Museum providing deep insights into Bhutanese history and culture.

A highlight of any trip to Bhutan is a visit to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, or Tiger’s Nest, perched precariously on a cliffside about 3,000 feet above the Paro Valley. This sacred site, steeped in legend, is where Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated in the 8th century, arriving on the back of a tigress. The hike to Tiger’s Nest is both challenging and rewarding, offering unparalleled views of the valley below and a profound sense of tranquility and spirituality once you reach the top.

Continuing our journey, we will find the breathtaking Punakha Valley, renowned for the Punakha Dzong, a stunning fortress situated at the confluence of the Pho and Mo rivers. Next, venture to Trongsa, centrally located and home to the majestic Trongsa Dzong, the largest fortress in Bhutan.

Finally, explore Bumthang, the spiritual heartland of Bhutan, with its myriad of ancient temples and monasteries, such as Jambay Lhakhang and Kurjey Lhakhang, nestled amidst rolling forests and pastures. Traveling through Bhutan, with its enriching blend of natural wonders and spiritual landmarks, is an experience that stays with you long after you depart.
