Mr. Rick stands in awe at the Flaming Cliffs of Bayanzag—where fiery red rocks meet the endless sky, and every breath invites reflection, peace, and a deeper appreciation for the journey of life.

The Flaming Cliffs, also known as Bayanzag, are one of Mongolia’s most iconic natural and paleontological sites. These dramatic red sandstone formations glow with fiery color at sunset—hence the name “Flaming Cliffs.” They are world-famous for being the site where the first dinosaur eggs were discovered in the 1920s by American explorer Roy Chapman Andrews. Besides their scientific value, the cliffs offer breathtaking desert landscapes, tranquility, and a deep sense of timelessness.

Distance: Approximately 600 kilometers (373 miles) southwest of Ulaanbaatar

Province: Located in Ömnögovi Aimag (South Gobi Province), southern Mongolia

Travel Time:
