Constructed in the 19th century by Colonel Cunningham to protect the British Army from the enemy, the Citadel Fort has been constructed in a Moorish style, complete with horse shoe arches. The fort has been constructed using large rectangular blocks.
In present times the fort has been converted into a National monument. Surrounding the fort are also the Caudan Water Front and the vast Indian Ocean. Fort Citadel remains a popular tourist destination owing to the stunning views it provides.
