Skip the crowded Euro summer itinerary and do this instead. Last summer, we had the opportunity to sail along the Turkish Riviera with and had a blast. A Turkish gulet cruise might not be on your couples bucket list, but here are 5 good reasons why you should consider it.
Here’s why it works:
Reason 1️⃣:
Meals are prepared onboard and feel more personal than constantly hopping from restaurant to restaurant. You get a personal chef who makes delicious meals and crew members who bring you snacks, coffee, and drinks whenever you want.
Reason 2️⃣:
You can make the trip slow or active. Some couples want rest, some want adventure. One person can journal on deck while the other jumps in the water. This trip allows both.
Reason 3️⃣:
You still get excursions, culture, and movement. And the great thing about it is you don’t have to plan every activity.
Reason 4️⃣:
It works for couples, families, or groups of friends. You can make it a romantic reset or turn it into the group trip everyone actually talks about for years.
Reason 5️⃣:
It gives you the feeling of a boutique hotel, boat day, and an itinerary all in one. Basically, multiple trips in one week.
Save this if Turkey or a Euro Summer is on your travel list, and send it to the person you’d book this with.
Would you do this as a couples trip or a group trip?

I had one requirement for my birthday. I had to be on a beach…in Africa.

I had a detailed spreadsheet with hotels, flights, etc. But I almost talked myself out of the trip.

The available timing didn’t feel ideal, and I started questioning whether we should even go. So my husband stepped in, picked the dates, booked everything, and made sure the trip actually happened. (Thank you, honey. You’re the best!)

We stayed at Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh (Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts), and from the moment we arrived, we knew it was the right call. The property is stunning, with calming architecture, beautifully designed spaces, and views of the Red Sea.

Waking up to the ocean and making it to the breakfast spread each morning was the best way to start our days. Each day felt peaceful… yet full. We even planned a progressive dinner across the resort, where the staff made every stop feel like a celebration. It wasn’t just a beautiful trip. It was a reminder not to talk yourself out of the things you really want.

Is there something you’ve been talking yourself out of lately?

𝗛𝗘𝗥: When we got married, I walked myself down the aisle. My grandmother, one of my favorite people in the world, fought me on this; she absolutely didn’t want me walking down the aisle solo. I told her it felt right to me.

My dad passed away when I was 13, and while I was incredibly grateful and have so much love for the men in my family and life who stood in the gap for me along my journey, I did a lot on my own. Well, not exactly on my own, I would say a prayer, and God would send a stranger or someone unexpected to help. The same things I would see my friends’ dads do for them without a second thought, I had to activate my faith for. When I shared this with her, my grandmother’s response was, “Well, you should have asked for help. No one knew you needed help.”

I don’t think she was completely right, but I also don’t think she was completely wrong. At the time, it made me a little sad to think that some of my past struggles might have been avoidable, but my best friend reminded me that if you change one thing, you change everything. So I’m okay with how things turned out, but I also haven’t forgotten what my grandmother said.

When prepping for this trip, I searched everywhere for cute, long faux-fur coats for us to match my Swiss Vision. But there were none to be found (that I liked)... all sold out! Then I thought to myself that maybe my very fly great-aunt and great-uncle had furs. So, I called, and they did have them, so I nervously asked to borrow them. I would have totally understood if they said no, but they said yes, and their yes felt like a warm hug!

I felt so loved and favored that they trusted me enough to take their fur coats that were older than me across the world. I felt so rich (not just in things, but in love, in favor, in family, etc) wearing it on the plane back to Atlanta before our trip to Switzerland. And for a little razzle-dazzle, God went ahead and upgraded me to 1st class. It was a whole moment.
