Malawi as a country can only develop if Citizens themselves replace negativity with positivity.

Before You Criticize "Welcome to Maula Prison", Consider This Perspective

In a time where the creative arts are steadily rising in Malawi, it is important that we learn to nurture a spirit of appreciation and positivity, especially towards the achievements of our own. Constructive feedback is valuable, but it must be rooted in understanding, not in haste or mockery.

1. Understand the Genre: Welcome to Maula Prison is best classified as a tragicomedy. A genre that blends sorrow and humor to both entertain and educate. While some scenes, such as the accident sequence, may appear unusually edited or simplistic, it's essential to ask: why would a well-funded production opt for such a style?
This is not a sign of incompetence. In fact, it's a deliberate artistic choice. Similar approaches are often used in international cinema, such as in Bollywood, where certain scenes are exaggerated or stylized to provoke laughter, spark conversation, and go viral. This is not a flaw, it’s a technique.

2. Respect the Process Behind the Scenes: Every scene in a professional production undergoes rigorous auditions, scripting, and directorial reviews. Judges, directors, and producers collaborate to shape how lines are delivered, how characters act, and how the audience is expected to react. What we see on screen is the result of deliberate planning, not random ex*****on.

3. Embrace Growth Through Support: Instead of quick criticism, let us ask ourselves: How can we support and promote local content so that it continues to improve? Let us recommend, share, and celebrate what is ours. Every suggestion we make should come from a place of understanding and encouragement, not ridicule.

Let’s uplift and build our own.

🌹DRIEMO- PUSHED BY PRESSURE, CARRIED BY PURPOSE🌹

He didn’t plan to be a musician, peer pressure pushed him into it.
What began as singing other people’s songs turned into a powerful journey of finding his own voice.
Today, Driemo is not just an artist, but a living reminder that dreams, when matched with work, can change your life.

"Peer pressure pushed me into music. I didn't plan for it, I just found myself doing it because others were doing it."

"I started by singing songs that were already out, by artists like Phyzix and others. People appreciated my voice. That’s when I learned the power of positive comments, they gave me the courage to keep going."

His Lessons (In His Own Words):

DRIEMO stands for Dreaming In Every Moment. I believe in dreaming... but more importantly, I believe in working to achieve that dream."

“Avoid unlucky people. If you associate with them, they will influence your decision-making.”

“Take criticism as construction. When people throw insults at you, it's not the time to defend yourself.”

“A harmless person is not a good person. A good person is someone who has the power to be greedy, corrupt, or oppressive, but chooses not to.”

“You know a man when you go to his house.”

“When people deliberately spread false stories about you or humiliate you, all they want is your reaction. Don’t defend yourself but give them silence.”

“Let’s keep encouraging people. Our voices can lead to real and lasting change in someone's life.”

HAVE YOU EVER TASTED CICADAS?
🍽️ Cicadas, A Northern Malawian Delicacy! 🇲🇼
Locally known as Chenje (in Mzimba), this seasonal treat has been spotted in Rural Mzimba, Rumphi and other parts of Warm Malawi. Mostly found before the rains begin (September to November), it’s a simple yet tasty relish that brings back sweet childhood memories.

How to prepare? Just boil and add enough salt until the water evaporates. That’s it, your relish is ready to enjoy with a hot plate of nsima.

As kids, we turned Chenje hunting into a celebration!
🎶 “Chelese, Banguzi, Nyajere, vumm vumm mbaaa!”
We’d sing, laugh, and chase them through the bushes, while our mothers waited to turn the catch into a delicious meal.

✨ Visit rural areas during this season and listen closely, you’ll hear the songs echoing through the bushes. A sound of joy, tradition, and community.

💚 Malawi is truly beautiful. Chenje is more than food, it’s a memory.
Share your Chenje story too!
