Just like we prepare our homes for hurricane season with essential supplies, let's also remember to build our personal "well-being kits" for any kind of unexpected disruption – natural or otherwise!

Living in Baja, we're keenly aware of hurricane season. Beyond securing your property, it's a healthy practice to ensure you are personally ready for multi-day isolation. Think beyond just your physical survival:

Nourish Your Body: Stock up on non-perishable, nutrient-dense foods that will sustain you and your family for several days. This isn't just about calories; it's about maintaining energy and health when other options might be limited.

Stay Hydrated: Have an ample supply of clean drinking water. Dehydration can quickly impact your physical and mental well-being.

Connect & Communicate: Ensure your communication devices are charged, and you have a plan to stay connected with loved ones, even if traditional services are down. Mental well-being thrives on connection.

Mind Your Mental Health: Consider what you'll need to stay calm and engaged. Books, games, or even a journal can be vital for maintaining a positive mindset during isolation.

Don't Procrastinate: The healthiest approach is always proactive!

Don't leave your personal readiness to the last minute. Start gathering these items now.

Being prepared isn't just about safety; it's about reducing stress and promoting peace of mind. A calm mind and a well-nourished body are your best assets in any situation.

🚨 UPDATE: Tropical Storm Alvin – June 1st, 2025 🚨

As of today, Sunday, June 1st, Tropical Storm Alvin has continued its weakening trend as anticipated. It has now degenerated into a remnant low and is located approximately 170 km southeast of Cabo San Lucas.

While Alvin is no longer a tropical storm, it's crucial to remember that its residual effects are still impacting our region.

What to Expect Today:

Coastal Hazards Remain: We continue to face life-threatening swells and dangerous rip currents along the southern Baja California Peninsula throughout the weekend. Please continue to exercise extreme caution near the ocean and avoid coastal activities.

Port Status: The port of Cabo San Lucas remains closed to small vessels due to high waves, a necessary safety measure.

Localized Rainfall: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are still possible in southern Baja California Sur, including the Cabo San Lucas area. Be prepared for localized street flooding, especially near arroyos (seasonal streambeds).

Your Safety is Key:

Stay Informed: Continue to monitor official updates from reliable sources like Mexico's National Meteorological Service (SMN/CONAGUA) and local Protección Civil. Avoid spreading or relying on unverified rumors.

Road Safety: If you must drive, be extremely cautious. Never attempt to drive through flooded roads or vados (dips in roads that collect water), as even shallow, fast-moving water can be dangerous. Ensure your roadside emergency kit is accessible and ready.

We appreciate everyone's continued vigilance and preparedness. Let's keep looking out for one another!
