Kukulkan or Kukulkan (Yucatec Maya: Kꞌukꞌulkaan 'feather and snake') is a godhead in Mayan mythology. 🐍

It has similarities with the Feathered Serpent, a divinity whose cult is one of the most relevant in Mesoamerica. It is related to wind and water. 🌊💨

The malls many years ago

The meco was one of the most important interchange and trade centers of its time due to its privileged location on the shores of the Mexican Caribbean.

This place certainly witnessed great negotiations, sales, and ceremonies.

The Mayan ruins at Tulum show what was once a vast pre-Columbian walled settlement. Many of the walls still stand today and tourists enter and exit through the small paved spaces on the thick wall. Archaeologists assume that Tulum served as a port due to its location in the Caribbean Sea, serving the nearby citadel of Coba. It was one of the last settlements built and occupied by the Maya before the Spanish began arriving in the 15th century. The most remarkable buildings here are the pyramid of the castle (the castle), the temple of the frescoes, and the temple of the descending god. ⛪️

The Castle is the largest and most prominent building on the site. This building, built on an earlier sanctuary, was used as a watchtower to guard canoes entering and leaving. The upper gallery has two viewing windows and it is thought that the sanctuary lighthouse was used to guide mariners home at night. 🌊🌙
