For over 45 years, El Durangueño focused on cattle raising and lumber production, but since 2004 it began to offer hunting and tourism. A diverse wild life can be found in this magnificent natural scenery, with Gould’s turkeys (meleagris gallopavo mexicana) and Coues White-Tail deer and elk standing out. The abundance and large size of its trophies makes El Durangueño a paradise for hunting. This

Not only is our ranch fantastic for hunting Gould's turkey, Coues whitetail deer and elk, but also great for javelina and ducks!

Throwback to earlier on this year when we received unusually high quantities of snow at the ranch, leaving the house covered in white. Seeing the deer walking about on the snow was a truly impressive sight!

Elk were abundant in northwestern Mexico, and specifically in the Durango-state area, until they were hunted indiscriminately and exterminated over 100 years ago. Our ranch is an ideal habitat for elk, so we bought the best specimens we could find in the southwestern U.S. and began to reintroduce them in 2008. They’ve done wonderfully and the herd has grown to the point that we’re going to have our first official hunting season in October of 2016! More information on the hunting season will be available in the coming weeks, but feel free to contact us at any time.

The elk shown in this photo was hunted at our ranch, however, it is not until this year that we are officially opening the hunting season to anyone interested (very few spaces available so contact us soon).
