January in Cozumel

Greetings and hope all had a happy new year and holidays. January has been a busy one diving along with the usual north winds ("norte") that shuts the port here for at times, several days. With the colder weather and water come changes in which fish and creatures are most prevalent. The changing population never disappoints. I have also found a few this month that I had not seen before - a checkered puffer and bearded toadfish -or had better luck with images - a torpedo ray, a havana mantis shrimp a porcupinefish couple and and eagle rays and sting ray foraging together....

December trip to Raja Ampat

Hi all. Happy Holidays! I spent the first week of December in Raja Ampat aboard the liveaboard, White Manta. What an amazing trip! Getting there took over 30 hours of flying time from Cozumel to Miami to JFK to Tokyo to Jakarta to Sorong, but it was definitely worth it. The boat was wonderful, well appointed and an amazing crew. We dove many sites and I have uploaded the images to my galleries....

We went on shore dive at Tikila. Fairly easy entrance and then a short swim out the reef area. Very flat, mostly grass and very small coral groups. Found many small critters and a few larger ones. Just want to share with you. Jay
