Grateful to God for another year that I've been able to complete, for fulfilling several of my goals and for those yet to come.

A brief summary of how my birding year went. Grateful to life and to God who, year after year, allows us to work and make a living from my favorite hobby.

May this year continue to be wonderful and may we all see more birds and visit more places for birdwatching.

BIRDING TRIP REPORT*
More than just a normal tour

since 30th to 7th December we start a very great adventure of birding once more
This time with my friends Jim and Dee from U. K where they didn't came with a specific list of birds just looking to see as Many as possible and also looking for all. Kind of life since Fuungus, butterflies, insects and everything which has life. And not. being his first time in Mexico and we can said that how the things goes better when you never plan something
We birded around all. The yucatán peninsula looking for all the endemics and we got them all
Visiting many spots and places. Starting in Muyil where on the road to go. To. The south we were surprised by closer views of King Vulture and after was more history.
We. Finished this adventure registering in total 236 species where I was very surprised about how birds were incredible and decide to give us good views of all. Of. Them

Was also very exciting to had 2 lifers for me. This time some of them I was really hoping to see and one which was totally unexpected for me.
First in the south of Quintana Roo my first Lifer was The super elusive Spotted Wood Quail where we saw it very well. In front of us for around 10 seconds was amazing the moment crossing glances didn't get a shot this time but I'll back for. It this bird it's the 8th report for the state according to ebird
Also in Campeche we registered the Amazing Green Honeycreeper new bird for. Me in Mexico
Celestún surprised us also were we registered Red Knot, another Lifer which has been long time ago trying to have it as a Lifer.
Very glad and very happy to guide them

Birds it's the most we love but if our friends wants to do.more.than birds we are open for. It and ready to create this kind of experience to inmers yourself on the real Mayan culture

A few days ago we finished another amazing birding trip of 7 days.

This time with my new friends Juan and Madison. With a great number of species already on his list, having been birding in Belize, Colombia and Costa Rica. We start this adventure in Muyil and we visited places near Guatemala and Belize and Yucatán Coast and also 2 highlands Cozumel and Isla Mujeres
During those 7 days we got in total #241 species Wich 58 were lifers for them
All of Those were well seen because they only counting them by well seen.
The top 5 of sighting were.

Thicket Tinamou in Xocen
Bicolored Hawk in Señor, my Community
Hook Billed Kite in Carrillo
Yucatan Poorwill in Xpujil
Mayan Anttrush in Carrillo

They really enjoyed this adventure because we went out of the ordinary, staying in very local places and eating very local food also with local families and also being followed by local people and guides to support their projects and families

A few days ago we just finished another amazing birding tour of 5 days looking for some specific species. This time we attend Rob and Cheryl from Canada. Some amazing birdwatchers who they only love to appreciate the beauty of the birds with their knocks.
We start in Muyil where were followed by another 2 birders in the morning thanks to Pickup Plus for helping first morning with transportation
After we continue to Morelos were we decide this time give a chance to the new generation of birders are coming have a look about how it's this job and my friend took us to the university where I'm studied and there we had the pleasure to hear 3 Pheasant Cuckoo's and one crossed above or head and after he bring us to his community where we saw a Northern Potoo
Next day we spend the time in Carrillo, Señor and night in Valladolid
We were extremely lucky when we found a Tropical Royal Flycatcher and just start to scratch and clean his self in front of us and at the moment less expected just open his beautiful crowned in front of us (Oh My gosh) im just fainted in the ground haha
Next day my Friend castillo took us around Valladolid in where we had another amazing moment.. before to finish just stop to see some Jays and a Thicket Tinamou cross in front of the car and was just there for around 30 seconds my best view of that bird until now.
We finished in Celestun where again Bacab's House Celestún offer us amazing high quality food and Jesus Leyva help us looking for the speciality of the site.

As I always said. Do team with the locals it's always a good deal to create amazing experiences.
At the end we saw in total 206 species
They were looking for 48 species and we got 44.
We missed some very hard ones by the way.

No lifers this time but the moment of Tinamou and Flycatcher felt as lifers.

Birding Trip Report 19th to 22nd February

A few days ago we just finished a fantastic short multiple day tour with friends from France.. Laurent, wife and friend visiting the most specific spots to got the as many lifers as possible
At the end of the trip we registered in total 186 species with 68 lifers for them.

Again working with local people to create an amazing experience thanks to Angel Fernando Castillo Cime & Mike Tun for being incredible guides as always and Xocen Birding Trail for being a incredible place to stay and birding

To Bacab's House Celestún for always amazing food and Jesus Leyva forngreat guide.

So happy also because I got 2 excellent lifers for me.

This year has been my best birding year so far I was fortunate and blessed to learn a lot both personally and professionally we were blessed to travel to various places with friends, clients and on my own

This year I was able to observe 194 new species for my lifetime list.
It was very difficult to select, but here I bring what for me was my best 12 lifers of 2024

BIRDING TRIP REPORT
A week ago we finished ANOTHER birding adventure of 5 days.. this time with Jesse Kemp and his parents traveling around Quintana Roo and Yucatán visiting so many birding spots and making team again with friends.
She came to find 128 species butany of them weren't on season and others very difficult to find. Checking the list i told her around 90 can be possible.

At the end of the trip we registered 200 species in total where 93 were totally new for Jesse. For me the highlight was totally the Red Capped Manakin and my Lifer Parasitic Jaeger.
They were so great people to share time with.

INFORME DEL VIAJE DE OBSERVACIÓN DE AVES
Hace una semana terminamos OTRA aventura de observación de aves de 5 días... esta vez con Jesse Kemp y sus padres viajando por Quintana Roo y Yucatán visitando varios lugares de observación de aves y haciendo equipo nuevamente con amigos. Ella vino para encontrar 128 especies pero algunas de ellas no estaban en temporada y otras eran muy difíciles de encontrar. Revisando la.lista le.comente que 90 eran las más posibles Al final del viaje registramos 200 especies en total de las cuales 93 eran totalmente nuevas para Jesse. Para mí, lo más destacado fue el Red Capped Manakin y mi Lifer Parasitic Jaeger. Fueron personas maravillosas con quienes compartir tiempo. Nuevamente gracias a mis amigos de Sin ellos este viaje no hubiera sido posible

Today we finished a 5-day birdwatching trip through Yucatan and Quintana Roo with David Rhody from Alberta, Canada, a very skilled birder who enjoys the simple things without using a camera, just enjoying and watching the birds.

We traveled more than a thousand kilometers and were able to greet several old and new friends during the birdwatching trips.

At the end of this trip we recorded 224 species, of which 67 were lifers for David and even 2 for me.

I can only thank Rancho - and Jimenez from the bottom of my heart for all the facilities, without you it would not have been possible, it is and will always be a pleasure to collaborate with you whenever possible.

It is always very important to respect and collaborate with local guides to create an even better experience with much more quality.

Something about me.

Hi to everyone, I'm Eddy and I'm a Mayan guide of the Riviera Maya doing different types of ecotourism tours to you.

I studied alternative tourism and I started 5 years ago learning about birds. When I was studying at the University, our teacher give us a homework to describe some bird of the Yucatan Peninsula, and I decide to talk about the Yucatan Jay, days after I saw it on live and from there it's when I started to fall in love about the birds. After that, everywhere where I was, I payed attention about the colors of the birds and the sounds and decided to make a thesis of birds in my community. When I start i didn't know if this it's a Job, after I start to learn more with friends about how to be a birdwatching guide and decide to start to promote like a service. Everytime doing with passion and love. I feel really happy to be able to live doing what I love.
