CRICKET
15 & 16 MAY 2026 I ROYAL SELANGOR CLUB
"ONE JOURNEY, THOUSAND MEMORIES"
*******
Cricket has always held a special place in our hearts. This time, the sport gave us something even more meaningful, the opportunity to create memories and experiences that will stay with these young talents for a lifetime.
Go Sport Ventures was truly honoured to bring talented Orang Asli students from the Temiang community of SMK Pos Kemar to the 1996 Sri Lanka Cricket World Championship 30th Anniversary Celebrations held in Kuala Lumpur on 15 & 16 May 2026.
Their journey to Kuala Lumpur itself was an unforgettable experience. It began with a 35-minute four-wheel drive journey through the interior roads of Pos Kemar, followed by a boat ride from Jeti Kemar to Jeti Pengkalan Trojen across Tasik Temenggur, covering nearly 40km. From there, they continued their journey to Ipoh before making their way to Kuala Lumpur after Friday prayers, a total journey of almost 8 hours.
Despite the long journey, the excitement on their faces made every moment worth it.
For many of them, this was their very first time visiting Kuala Lumpur, seeing the city skyline with their own eyes, witnessing one of the tallest towers in the world up close, and most importantly, experiencing live international cricket during the friendly match between Sri Lanka and Australia.
One of the most special moments throughout the programme was the opportunity for the students to be guided and trained by members of the legendary Sri Lankan cricket team, a squad that inspired the cricketing world 30 years ago.
More than just sports, this journey was about exposure, confidence, inspiration, and opening doors for young talents from communities that deserve greater opportunities.
We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who made this meaningful 2 days 1 night experience possible:
• Mr. Devindran
• Mr. Mazlan, Director of Majlis Sukan Negeri Perak
• Unit Pembangunan Bakat Murid - Sukan, JPN Perak
• Cikgu Adry & Cikgu Isa from SMK Pos Kemar
• Mr. Satesh Kumar, President of Perak Cricket Association
• Mr. Vijiay Lingam from Malaysian Cricket Association
• Mr. Patrick Theseira from Platinum Charters
• Mr. Mahinder Singh
• Mr. Koo Kim Kuang
…and every individual who contributed directly or indirectly towards making this journey a success.
Thank you for believing in these children and for helping us create opportunities that may shape their future in ways beyond sport.
We sincerely hope this is only the beginning of many more meaningful opportunities ahead for these talented young individuals with such great potential and admirable character!
