One beckoned me with an outstretched hand,
In Sabah's arms where sunsets flame,
Lies Kota Kinabalu by name.
Beyond her shores, the waters call,
To divers brave, to one and all.
With tank and mask, I took the leap,
Into the sapphire ocean deep.
Coral cathedrals, gardens wide,
Where rainbow fish and sea fans glide.
The world above began to fade,
As silence wrapped the sea's cascade.
And there beneath the turquoise dome,
A shimmer stirred the ocean's foam.
With silver tails and emerald hair,
The mermaids danced with ocean flair.
Their laughter bubbled soft and sweet,
Like shells that hum with tidal beat.
They twirled through beams of filtered light,
In ballets born of sea and night.
Their eyes, like pearls, held stories old—
Of shipwrecks lost and treasures bold.
One beckoned me with outstretched hand,
To swim beyond the reef's gold band.
Through arches carved by time and tide,
To where the deepest wonders hide.
We soared past turtles, drifting slow,
Through fields where phosphorescents glow.
A dolphin joined our fleeting show,
Its joy a song the sea would know.
No words were said, yet hearts were stirred,
In silent speech more deep than word.
Till rising bubbles drew me high,
Back to the surface, sea, and sky.
Yet still I dream that secret blue,
Where mermaids danced and friendships grew.
In Kota Kinabalu’s embrace,
The ocean keeps her mystic grace.
