CHANGE OF SPEAKER
Kindly be informed that there will be a substitute of speaker for the upcoming CBXP event. It is unfortunate that Planner Lukman A Ghani would not be able to make it to the event. However, he will be replaced by another distinguished speaker, Ir Amin Ramli, Managing Director of Straits Consulting Engineers Sdn Bhd.
Topic: Planning and Design of Sustainable Township Infrastructure

Infrastructure is the key enabler for development of sustainable township and green living. In our drive towards building and community scale green solutions, management of common infrastructure components such as roads, drainage, water supply, sewerage collection and treatment systems, power supply, telecommunications and solid waste generates at the township and neighbourhood levels are given less focus, while it generates most of the carbon footprint in any given development.
This talk aims to discuss the status quo of infrastructure design in Malaysia’s typical townships and discusses how solutions can be developed and realized through close collaboration between the project owner and design team. The talk provides theoretical and practical approaches to design, while offering environmentally responsible solutions which generates potential income stream for project owners and nourishing lifestyle for the community.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir. Amin Ramli is the Managing Director of Straits Consulting Engineers Sdn Bhd, a multi-disciplinary engineering design firm with substantial track record in buildings and infrastructure projects. He graduated with Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), New York in 2004. Upon graduating, he joined STV Incoporated, an award winning A/E/C firm based in the United States, where he served as a Civil Engineer in the Transportation and Infrastructure Division. He was based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he served some of STV’s biggest clients.
In 2011, he returned to Malaysia and joined Straits Consulting Engineers as Chief Operating Officer. In 2013, he was appointed to the Board as Managing Director. He has led the team to designing and completing major township infrastructures for high profile clients such as Perbadanan Pembangunan Kampong Bharu, Iskandar Investment Berhad, Themed Attractions Resorts and Hotels, PKNS, UEM Sunrise, etc.
He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Malaysia and the United States. He is also a Chartered Professional Engineer in Australia. He is a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM), the Institution of Engineers Australia (EA) and Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) as well as the Malaysian Green Building Confederation (MGBC) and the Institute of Value Management Malaysia (IVMM).
