Rojak Culture

Rojak Culture Rojak Culture is proud to bring you a truly Malaysian party game - The Lepak Game. We believe in seeing ourselves first as Malaysian.

We believe in the value of building genuine friendships across the races and engage in conversation about our inclusive Malaysian identity, recognizing the diversity of cultures and its contributions. It contains the essence of Malaysia in a deck of cards, guaranteed to spark some serious Malaysian-style fun! Its an easy to play word-matching game that relies on your persuasion skills (recalling i

nside jokes, sharing kesian stories to tarik-tarik hati, sabotaging the other’s presentation of the truth) to convince the 'Boss' to pick your card. You'll find yourself in meaningful conversations, heaps of laugther or reminiscing a truly Malaysian experience with other players. Best played with a group of fun loving multi-racial Malaysians because our approach to responding to racial tension is simple. Help Malaysians recall and reminisce our shared experiences, retain our ability to agree to disagree, and celebrate what we have in common. It's from our rojak culture that we get our vibrant Malaysian identity. So let's celebrate our Malaysian-ness!

Welcome to our first post in the You Orang Apa? series! ✨ A series where we celebrate the uniqueness of every ethnic group that makes up Malaysia’s colourful multicultural and multireligious community.

The Kristang community has been part of Malaysia’s cultural landscape for centuries, contributing their rich heritage and even language, to our shared identity as Malaysians.

They are a living reminder of Malaysia’s rojak-ness.

🎉 Happy Birthday, Everyone!

The 7th day of Chinese New Year, 人日 (Rénrì), is also known as "Human's Day"—a day when everyone grows a year older together

To mark the occasion, Yee Sang (鱼生) is enjoyed on Human’s Day (人日), the 7th day of Chinese New Year. However, in modern times, this colourful dish is eaten throughout the festive season.

👄What is Red Mouth Day?

赤口 (Chìkǒu), or Red Mouth Day, falls on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year and is also known as 鼠日 (Shǔrì), the Day of the Rat. 📅 In 2025, it falls on 31st January.

Traditionally, this day is believed to bring quarrels and disagreements, so many people choose to avoid social gatherings. The day is spent going to the temple or staying home.

In modern-day practices, the third day of CNY is seen as a much-needed day of rest after the hustle and bustle of the first two days. 🙂 Perfect for some quality time at home—maybe even cozy game night with the family! 🎲🏡

Haiyah! Superstition only mah…why follow, right? But what if there’s actually a practical reason behind these popular CNY taboos?

Why is sweeping the floor on New Year’s Day said to bring bad luck? Or why do we avoid using sharp objects? While these traditions might seem odd at first, many are rooted in wisdom designed to promote harmony, rest, and prosperity—so families can truly enjoy their time together.

We hope we’ve shed some light on these common CNY taboos, sprinkled with a little twist of logic 😉

Happy Chinese New Year! 🧧✨ May your year overflow with joy, prosperity, and cherished moments with your loved ones—from all of us at Rojak Culture! 🥢🌸🎉
