🇲🇾 Tipping Guide for Travellers in Malaysia
Travelling to Malaysia soon? Here’s a simple guide about tipping culture here.
In Malaysia, tipping is not compulsory, but it is always appreciated as a kind gesture for good service.
✅ Restaurants & Cafés
Many restaurants already include a 10% service charge in the bill. You may still leave small change or round up the bill if you are happy with the service.
✅ Hotels
For bellboys, housekeeping or helpful hotel staff, a small tip such as RM2–RM10 is appreciated.
✅ Tour Guides & Drivers
For private tours or group tours, tipping your guide or driver is a nice way to show appreciation, especially if they provided good service, helped with luggage, shared local stories, or made your journey comfortable.
✅ Taxi / Grab Drivers
Tipping is not expected, but you may round up the fare or give a small tip for excellent service.
💡 Malaysia Travel Tip:
A smile, a “thank you”, and polite words are just as important as tipping in Malaysian culture.
Welcome to Malaysia, where warm hospitality comes from the heart. 🇲🇾✨
