The Dusun

The Dusun Berembun Resort Sdn Bhd (1123792-M) A little piece of Paradise tucked in the hills of Negeri Sembilan.

The Dusun is seven self-catering, socially-conscious, eco-bungalows on a durian orchard. In 1984, our family began planting trees on this 12-acre lot. We now have huge trees, 2 forest walks, 6 bungalows, 2 pools, deer, chickens, fish and vegetables when the elements cooperate. The Dusun is designed after our family lifestyle of privacy, long talks, cooking up storms, beautiful views from open-conc

ept houses and watching and listening to nature. It is the perfect place to spend quiet quality time with loved ones or by yourself. There is wifi in a common area sometimes and no TV in any of our bungalows. It is suitable for those looking for an off-grid nature experience. With bungalows on the top of a hill and wind off the forest reserve, we enjoy cooler temperatures at night. Each house has a fully equipped kitchen and outdoor barbecue. We are committed to low-impact resort operations, hiring locally, supporting the community, composting, phosphate-free products, organic farming and air-cond free houses. We continue to nurture and sculpt our little piece of paradise with more forest walks, plants and animals.

Our bodies do so much for us. They carry us, keep us safe, and sometimes hold stress and anxiety. We have partnered with local massage artisans to offer our guests massages. In keeping with local custom, female guests are massaged by women and male guests by men. Our masseurs bring music, hot ginger tea, and batik, creating a holistically enjoyable experience for our guests.

We’ve hosted many children over the years — some of our own family have even grown up here.

Among the favourite things for kids to do: watching (or catching) tadpoles, rattling a cicada, spotting birds, and feeling the thick moss beneath their feet along our footpaths.
Oh, and yes — there’s also a playground and swings.

Wander.

On this 12-acre property with two forest walks, two pools, friendly farm animals, vegetable patches, and countless flower gardens and footpaths — many find joy in simply wandering. You may find yourself walking a little softer, and breathing a little deeper.

If peace and quiet were a place — this would be it.

The ideal Malaysian holiday destination for nature lovers. Each of our jungle lodges is unique and set to catch the views and the wind while maintaining privacy for guests. Some face a virgin Malaysian rainforest, while others look out onto distant rolling hills.

The Dusun is close to Seremban and just over an hour from Kuala Lumpur and KLIA. Our collection of villas is on a 12-acre orchard with two pools and stunning views.

The Dusun is 800 feet above sea level in the foothills of the Titiwangsa Main Range, so expect cool nights. Next to us is the Berembun Forest Reserve, 4,000 acres of protected virgin forest rising to 3,900 feet.

The wet market is located in Seremban, about half an hour from The Dusun. It’s the best place to find the freshest produce and is a must-visit for those unfamiliar with life in Malaysia — especially in the morning, when the market is full of energy and local charm. Breakfast is available at the food court upstairs, which serves authentic local dishes, including the famous Seremban beef noodles.

We have two chicken coops and two deer enclosures. The chicken coop behind Kantan House is quite tall, and guests may enter it with guidance from our staff. If you’d like to visit the deer, please check which enclosure they’re in, as we allow the grass in the first enclosure to regrow while they stay in the second. We occasionally sell venison, so do enquire if you’re interested.

We also have two vegetable patches — one above Tapir House and another in front of Tembusu House. You’ll also find herbs for cooking in small garden beds around The Dusun. Feel free to ask which herbs are available for your own use.

Embracing the Circle of Life: Savouring the art and beauty of giving back to nature. We have a few gardens, cared for by Helen and her team. We harvest fresh fruits and vegetables to enjoy their flavours, then conscientiously compost the waste to replenish the earth. This practice is rooted in our commitment to sustainability and honouring the interconnectedness of all life on our amazing planet.

We have two infinity pools shared by our seven bungalows. These are saltwater pools, a system which minimises the use of chlorine. We have had guests with sensitive skin who can rarely swim in pools but can swim comfortably in ours.

The upper pool is right in front of The Patio and Berembun House, and the lower pool is beside the Perling Houses. Both pools enjoy the morning and noontime sun and are shaded in the afternoons.

We never tire of this view. There is such an incredible variety of trees in a tropical rainforest. Some trees may sometimes flower, others may fruit seasonally. Soon after sunrise, the houses close to Berembun Forest will enjoy the rhythmic calls of a Gibbon clan. In the evening, you may be lucky enough to see a pair of Hornbills flying together over the valley.

We have a little book for those interested in what they might find on your hike here. This book was written especially about the jungle that our guests hike by Denai Bumi and designed and illustrated by Shao-Lyn of Eats, Shoots & Roots . We used to give it to guests but found a few crumpled in corners, so now we charge a nominal fee to those who are interested.
