The Wild Horses of the Namib are an iconic Namibian species with an interesting origin story running through their bloodline. They are rare, hardy and probably the only feral herd of horses residing in Africa, except for the small Kundudo herd in Ethiopia. The Wild Horses of the Namib are living proof of what community spirit can achieve. Thanks to the dedication of the owners of Klein-Aus Vista (the Swiegers family) to help conserve and protect them, these magnificent creatures continue to thrive. The Acacia Pied Barbet (Tricholaema leucomelas) is a sedentary but fairly restless species that occurs in pairs or singly. Its flight is fast and direct.
