This has officially become the Year of the Canceled Flights. 😅

First, our flight to Georgia was canceled. Then our flight to Cape Verde was canceled. At this point, airlines seem determined to keep us on our toes.

The frustrating part is that after spending hours (and sometimes days) researching routes, booking tickets, and making plans, an airline can basically send a message that says, "Never mind. Start over." 🤦🏾‍♀️

But travel has a funny way of working out. My current solution involves a stopover in Senegal so I can still catch my original flight to Cape Verde, even though my connection was canceled. And honestly, I'm starting to think the universe was just telling me, "You're not allowed to skip Senegal this year." 😂

One thing full-time travel has taught us is that flexibility is everything. Plans change. Flights get canceled. Buses break down. Weather happens. Sometimes the adventure starts before you even reach your destination.

The road doesn't always go smoothly, but the experiences, people, and places we discover along the way almost always make the detours worth it. So, Senegal, it looks like we'll be seeing you after all this year! 🇸🇳✈️

🎥 New Video Alert! 🌴

Today, we're sharing exactly how much we paid to spend two months in Mauritius. Whether you're dreaming about taking a gap year, becoming a digital nomad, or spending your retirement exploring the world, these cost breakdowns can help you see what's possible.

One thing we've learned after years of traveling? Living abroad often isn't as expensive as people think. In fact, our time in Mauritius didn't cost much more than our life back in the U.S.!

So if you've ever thought about swapping your regular bills for tropical island bills, this video might give you a little inspiration. 🌊☀️🏝️

The world is HUGE—there are 195 countries out there waiting to be explored. It will take a lifetime to see it all, so let's get started! Where will your next adventure take you?

Well... Africa finally claimed a piece of our technology. 😅

My laptop didn't survive a power surge in Ghana, and while it's definitely a major setback for my workflow, there's a silver lining. David generously handed over his Mac laptop so I could keep working on videos, and we picked up a basic HP laptop for him to use for blogging.

Honestly, as sad as I am to see my old laptop go, it was getting so painfully slow that I could barely get anything done. Every task felt like a battle against the dreaded spinning loading circle. 😂

Now that I'm using David's laptop, editing videos and posting content is actually fun again. Everything is so much faster, and I didn't realize how much time I was losing waiting for things to load!

The challenge is that electronics can be surprisingly expensive in many parts of Africa, and the selection isn't always great. So we're trying to hold out until we return to the U.S. before replacing my MacBook.

Until then, you may notice our videos looking a little more old-school. Fancy graphics and flashy effects are taking a temporary vacation while I edit like it's 2020 again. 😆
Thanks for sticking with us while we figure it out and keep the travel content coming. The adventures never stop—even when the technology does!

This week we’re sharing one of Africa’s best kept secrets… Mauritius 🇲🇺

This stunning island, just east of Madagascar, completely surprised us with how much it has to offer. Think beautiful beaches, lush mountains, waterfalls, amazing food, and all the convenience of modern city life.

It’s the kind of place where you can spend the morning hiking in nature and the evening enjoying great restaurants and nightlife.

So, be sure to check out our channel to see everything we loved about Mauritius… and a few things we didn’t. We're not gatekeeping anything. Despite the cons though, we're still thinking about spending a year here soon! So, follow to see where we decide to permanently relocate.

I’m already daydreaming about where we should travel in 2027 🌍

We want to take a year to revisit some of our favorite places, but we can’t decide between two VERY different adventures…

🏝️ A peaceful year living in Mauritius
or
✈️ A year slow traveling through Asia — Vietnam, Thailand, China, Japan, Malaysia, and Taiwan

Part of me loves the idea of quiet island life, ocean views, and a slower pace in Mauritius, but the other part of me is craving the energy, food, culture, trains, night markets, and excitement of Asia.

So what would YOU choose for a year: peace or excitement? Let us know in the comments!

The other day we crossed the border into Togo, and moments like this always remind us how wild and unexpected this travel lifestyle can be. 🌍✨

We took a city tour around Lomé, the capital of Togo, and had one of the most fascinating cultural experiences we’ve ever had. Togo is home to one of the largest voodoo markets in the world, so we got the chance to explore the market and even meet with a voodoo priest. It was eye-opening, unforgettable, and unlike anything we’ve experienced before.

One thing that made it even more special was realizing how connected it felt to Cuban culture and dance. Since we love Cuban dances like Salsa and Afro-Cuban styles, it was amazing to see many of the same gods and spiritual traditions represented here in West Africa, the birthplace of it all. It really felt like a full circle moment seeing how Cuban culture and even New Orleans culture somehow made us feel more at home in African culture too.

The world can feel so huge sometimes, but experiences like this remind us how deeply connected we all really are. Follow for more insights from our year in Africa.
