FTAN Visits Conservator General, Expresses Interest In Kainji Lake

The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Ibrahim Goni, the Conservator General (CG) of the Federation in Abuja.

FTAN also expressed the willingness to be part of the water and marine tourism ecosystem in the water bodies in Kainji Lake National Park and in Bayelsa where a new exclusive marine Park was located.

The FTAN team was led by Mr. Nkereweum Onung and Dr. Gani Tarzan Balogun, the President and Board of Trustees of the association, respectively.

A statement by FTAN, said that the duo, expressed delight with the intentional progress made by the CG over years, which they said had attracted global commendation to Nigeria conservation efforts.

“We are indeed happy to be here and to reestablished our relationship with you and your organisation, particularly in ensuring that we process the eco-tourism values of conservation efforts currently ongoing across the nation” Onung said.

Balogun also informed Goni that the water and marine tourism ecosystem in the water bodies in Kainji Lake National Park and in Bayelsa where a new exclusive marine Park was located, would be of interest to FTAN and Association of Tourist Boat Operators and Water Transporters of Nigeria (ATBOWATON).

In his response, Goni expressed his happiness at the visit of the two top flight tourism personalities and requested regular interaction and partnership between the park authorities and the federation.

He said: “We are happy to have you back here, particularly seeing Gani Tarzan Balogun, who is a personal friend. We shall work together going forward.”
