Before submitting your application, be sure the school you’re considering:

Is a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) – only DLIs are authorized to accept international students.

Offers PGWP-eligible programs – only specific programs qualify you for a Post-Graduation Work Permit, which is essential if you aim to work or become a permanent resident in Canada.

Important: Not all schools or programs meet both criteria.

📢 BIG NEWS for international students in Canada!

🔻 What’s changed?
178 non-degree programs are NO LONGER eligible for a PGWP
These were removed due to misalignment with long-term labor market needs

✅ What’s new?
119 new programs have been added, focused on key sectors like:
Healthcare
Education
Social services
Skilled trades

🎓 There are now 920 PGWP-eligible programs in total!
🛡️ Good news if you already applied:
If you submitted your study permit before June 25, 2025, your eligibility is protected—even if your program was removed.

📅 Upcoming deadlines to note:
November 1, 2024: Only grads from approved programs are eligible
March 2025: Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD graduates no longer need to meet a field-of-study requirement
