The 'Parrot Group' started evolving in year 2003. By August 1, 2004, the first product, called PM Parrot Evening newspaper was rolled out from its corporate headquarters in Ibadan. The publication was child of necessity because the publisher, Olayinka Agboola, whose journalism carrier started some 20 years ago had a dear focus. The idea behind the establishment of the evening newspaper
was to 'serve tomorrow's news fresh today'. With Ibadan as the base, Agboola was of the opinion that PM Parrot would also help shore up the image and reputation of the ancient city as a major capital for 'newspapering' in Nigeria. There had been Evening Sketch which died automatically with the Sketch Group when the outfit was shut by its owner States. By August 2006, circumstances practically forced ProKonnect Nigeria Limited, the publishers of PM Parrot to embark on the establishment of another publication which was christened Parrot Xtra Magazine. The first package was unique, breezy and lucid. The focus was equally clear - to serve as the gap between soft and hard sell publications in Nigeria. Olayinka Agboola, the publisher was able to employ his wealth of experience from Ovation International, Fame Magazine, Thisday, Sketch, Nigerian Tribune and Eko FM to ensure that Parrot Xtra Magazine becomes a premium brand. To date, Parrot Xtra Magazine has developed a reputation for publishing exciting interviews. The tabloid also publishes pictures of events in dazzling colours. It is often said that events are incomplete if not published in Parrot Xtra Magazine! And, in the past two years, we started a Radio Show. We presently go live on Splash 105.5fm, the most listened-to Radio Station in the South West of Nigeria between 11am and 12noon on Tuesdays.
