The word "ANAGO or NAGO" is well documented globally. The Yorubas are called Anago or Nago in Brazil, Benin Republic, Haiti, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast, e.t.c. The word Anago were used earlier to qualify the Yorubas before the Christian missionaries made the name Yoruba popular in their writings. Fon-speaking people (Ouidah Benin Republic) used to describe Yoruba-speaking people as Anago. Towards the end of the slave trade in the 1880s, the Nagos stood out as the African group most often shipped to Brazil. The slaves shipped from the west Africa Coast to USA, Cuba, Venezuela, Brazil...are identified as Anago slaves, which means someone who is wise or intelligent. They're many town and villages along the borderline community of Nigeria and Benin who identified themselves as ANAGO and ambassadors of Oyo empire originated from Ile-Ife.

Miss Omoge ANAGO is therefore a very unique pageant that will bring to the fore the beauty of Anago origin, promote culture and tourism and further strengthen peace and unity.
