OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES FOR THIS LOCKDOWN
Many of us are desperate to get outside and are wondering what outdoor activities are safe to do right now? And how to do them while taking the proper precautions?
For one, be sure to follow the latest mandates by the NCDC. Stick to doing outdoor activities alone or with members of your household. Wear face mask to shield your mouth from respiratory droplets, I also learnt that you should wear sunglasses to protect your eyes also.
1. Walking
Taking a walk outside can-do wonders for your physical and mental health. Opt for a stroll around your street; you can go during off-hours to minimize contact with others (but be sure that it is safe).
Remember, the virus can survive on surfaces, so try not to touch surfaces; if possible, carry hand sanitizer and wipes. Wash your hands immediately once you return home.
2. Running
For those that are not lazy like me, going for a jog is another option.
And please, no spitting or blowing snot out of your nostrils: The virus can be in the postnasal drip you expel via your nostrils or by spitting.
3. Workout
If you miss your visits to the gym, start your own workout routine at home. There are several mobile applications available to help you keep fit at home.
You can shoot me a DM for suggestions
4. Biking
As long as you’re steering clear of crowded routes, taking a bike ride is a good way to blow off some steam.
Carrying a water bottle on the bike will prevent the need to stop somewhere more crowded to hydrate.
I don’t own a bike; so, this option is not available for me.
Outdoor Activities to Avoid
Please and please, skip group sports like basketball, football etc. even if you’re planning to play with a group of relatives, friends or neighbours.
Team sports should be avoided right now because they involve gathering players and spectators in one place
Feel free to add your suggestions
