The beautiful sunset of baalbek

Baalbek is a city located east of the Litani River in Lebanon's Beqaa Valley, northeast of Beirut. It is the capital of Baalbek-Hermel Governorate.
In Greek and Roman times Baalbek was also known as Heliopolis

It is home to the Baalbek temple complex which includes two of the largest and grandest Roman temple ruins: the Temple of Bacchus and the Temple of Jupiter. It was inscribed in 1984 as an UNESCO World Heritage site.

We were told that Temple of Bacchus was dedicated to the wine god Bacchus where Romans get drunk, dance and it became their night club.

The Temple of Jupiter is a colossal Roman temple, the largest of the Roman world. The Temple of Jupiter is located at the Baalbek ruins in Syriaca, modern-day Lebanon. It is the most massive temple built by the ancient Romans, designed as a place of worship for a god that went by different names in different eras: Hadad, Ba’al, Zeus, Helios, or Jupiter.

Religious worship had occurred in this complex for many centuries.

🔸Explore the capital city Beirut. A city bubbling day and night. City that truly never sleeps. Learn more about Lebanon. Visit the National Museum and so many landmarks. Indeed exciting.
