Today is the last day of August, and before we rush into a new month, let’s pause for a moment and be grateful.

Grateful for the journeys we have made, the doors that opened, the ones that didn’t, the lessons we learned, and most importantly, for the gift of life. 🙏🏽

Sometimes, we focus so much on what is yet to happen that we forget to appreciate how far we have already come.

✈️ BEFORE YOU PAY FOR THAT INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT, CHECK YOUR NAME AGAIN!

Imagine this…

You’ve finally found your flight.
The price is good.
Your travel date is perfect.
You’re excited because everything is finally coming together.

You make the payment, receive your ticket and breathe a sigh of relief.

Then, much later, you notice:

“Wait… why is my name written like this?” 😳

Maybe one letter is missing.
Maybe two names have been swapped.
Maybe the name on the ticket doesn't exactly match the name on your passport.

Please don't ignore it.

For international travel, your passenger name should match your passport/travel document. Your passport is one of the key documents used to establish your identity for the journey.

Don't assume that because the difference is “just one letter” it will automatically be overlooked.

And don't wait until you get to the airport before checking.

Before you click PAY, compare the name on the ticket with the name on your passport.

Check it carefully:

✔️ First name
✔️ Middle name(s), where applicable
✔️ Surname
✔️ Spelling
✔️ Order of names

That extra minute of checking can save you unnecessary stress, delays or costly corrections.

Your ticket is not something to glance at and close. Read it.

Because sometimes, the problem with your trip doesn't start at the airport.

It starts with what you didn't check before you paid.

✈️ Before you book. Check. Ask. Understand. Then pay.

One Small Travel Mistake Can Make You Miss Your Flight ✈️

Imagine this…

You arrive at the airport feeling relaxed because you’ve checked in online. You get to the counter, only to hear:

“Madam/Sir, you have excess luggage.” 😩

You start negotiating, looking for money to pay, or trying to rearrange your bags. Before you know it, boarding has closed.

Flight missed. 💔

But excess luggage isn’t the only thing that can catch a traveller off guard.

Sometimes, it’s the wrong terminal.

You arrive at the airport and confidently head to the terminal you used on your last trip only to discover that your flight departs from another terminal.

Now you’re rushing, looking for transport between terminals, checking directions and watching the time.

And then there’s the dangerous one:

WRONG ASSUMPTION.

“I’ve travelled this route before, so I know how it works.”

“I’m sure my baggage allowance is 23kg.”

“I thought all international flights use the same terminal.”

“I’ll just get there early; I’ll sort everything out.”

✋ Please don’t assume when it comes to air travel.

Your ticket, airline, route and airport may have specific rules that are different from what you experienced before.

Before you leave for the airport, check these 5 things:

✅ Your baggage allowance
✅ Your departure terminal
✅ Your check-in/boarding deadline
✅ Your flight time and date
✅ Any special requirements attached to your ticket

Being early is good. Being prepared is better.

A few minutes spent checking the details can save you from the stress, and financial loss of missing your flight.

BEFORE YOU BOOK ✈️

One mistake passengers make while travelling: They check the ticket price but don’t check the ticket conditions.

₦800,000 may look cheaper than ₦900,000, but what happens if you need to change your travel date?

That “cheaper” ticket may be non-refundable, non-changeable, or come with expensive penalties.

Before you pay for a flight, don’t ask only:

“How much is the ticket?”

Also ask:

• Is it refundable?
• Can I change my travel date?
• How much is the change fee?
• How much baggage is included?
• What happens if I miss the flight?

The cheapest ticket is not always the cheapest option.

✈️ Travel smarter. Ask questions before you pay.
