On Saturday 15th August 2026,our Chief Executive Officer Mr: Joseph Umoh alongside other notable personalities and corporate bodies were honoured with awards of Excellence and Recognition in various fields as part of events to mark the 2026/2027 Miss Akwa Ibom Heritage Queen Beauty Pageant / Awards / Gala Nite, held in Uyo.

The Miss Akwa Ibom Heritage Queen Pageant is much more than a showcase of beauty; it is a display of the rich cultural heritage and a celebration of the famed traditions and unique identity of Akwa Ibom State.

In his acceptance speech, Mr, Umoh commended the organisers for providing our young women the much valued platform to showcase their beauty and the unique Akwa Ibom culture; and the wonderful work they’re doing in community empowerment. He concluded by assuring them of the continued support and partnership of FTAN Akwa Ibom State.

MEET THE FORMER ARUGBÁ Ọ̀ṢUN

Meet Abeni, the former Arugbá Ọ̀ṣun, a young maiden traditionally chosen from the extended royal family of the Àtáọja of Osogbo. By custom, the Arugbá must be a virgin, symbolizing purity and devotion.

She carried the sacred calabash to the Ọ̀ṣun Sacred Grove during the grand finale of the annual Ọ̀ṣun-Òṣogbo Festival, a role that holds deep cultural and spiritual significance.

For twelve consecutive years, Abeni faithfully served as the Arugbá Ọ̀ṣun. Following the 2024 Ọ̀ṣun-Òṣogbo Festival, she concluded her service and got married, marking the end of her journey in the revered role.

According to tradition, an Arugbá who intends to marry must notify the custodians of the tradition at least one year before the next festival. Abeni fulfilled this requirement, and the necessary traditional rites were completed before she stepped down. A new Arugbá has since taken over the sacred responsibility.
