APPLYING FOR A VISA: TIPS TO INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF SUCCESS
For many people, the process of applying for a visitor's visa to visit another country is a long and cumbersome process. There are several documents to prepare, various fees to be paid and in some cases, interviews to be made. All these put together make the whole process tiring.
However, with a few tips, you can take a large part of the stress of applying for a visa and ensure that you have a relatively smoother and easier process with your application. With over 10 years experience in this field, these are what we would recommend as your best fool-proof tips to help increase your chances of success
1] Prepare all your documents: you should make a note of all the necessary and required documentation you would need to get your visa application approved. It can be very hurtful to find your application denied because of the absence of a specific documentation. As a rule of thumb, if you are not sure if it's required, include it! Common required documents include passports(obviously!), passport photographs, income tax statements, birth certificate, marriage certificate, copies of previous visas to mention a few.
2] Keep a list of all the countries you've visited with dates. Many embassies require this information as part off a visa application and you would do well to have this information handy and accurate.
3] Make a checklist of the visa application requirements – and triple check it! Visa application requirements vary from one country to the other and you want to submit the right documents. Some embassies actually require you to either make or print off a copy of the checklist and tick each document off if you've included it. Also make a note of any fine print in the checklist. Even if the embassy does not require a checklist, it is still a good idea to make one yourself and follow it.
4] Attending the Visa Application Interview. Some countries, notably the United States of America, require a formal interview as part of the visa application process. It is important that you perform at your best during the interview itself to greatly increase your chances of being issued with a visa. Arrive on time, wear appropriate clothing, answer interview questions truthfully and honestly and general DO NOT give the Visa Officer reason to assume that your true intentions are different from your stated intentions as this will almost always result in you being denied.
