From our Founder : I started this journey over 15 years ago when I saw a man dancing.. with a big ol' grin, a lightness in his step and I thought wow.. ,where did he get that light, that carefreeness, that joie-de-vivre.. like any good sleuth I set out to learn as much as I could about where that came from.. I learned it comes from breathwork, it comes from faith, hope, from devotion, and it comes from our intentions and applying discernment.

🌿 Ayurvedic note for the season:

In hot weather (38c here in Nicaragua today), Pitta tends to rise (acne, rashes, itch, anger, frustration, irritation, and things that can lead to more serious issues if they continue too long)

To bring it back into balance, we favor:
sweet, bitter, and astringent tastes

→ sweet cools and nourishes
→ bitter clears heat and detoxifies
→ astringent grounds and absorbs excess moisture

Think:
fresh fruits, leafy greens, cucumber, coconut, herbs

When we ignore this…
heat builds

and it can show up as:
irritation, inflammation, skin issues, burnout, and lots of other things. Get a consult to find out what your body is speaking to you means according to the Ayurvedic lens and what you can do about it..

Qi Gong is a beautiful, invigorating, nourishing somatic flow. It is the art of moving with intentional, mindful fluidity to clear the internal garage of any lingering density or bracing held within the nervous system. Likened to a moving meditation specifically designed to refine your system and make you feel better in your body. It is one of those practices that must be experienced to share about.

Intro to FOUNDATIONS Online Series with Nicole is going to be fantastic !! This wonderful somatic practice coming up with one of our favorite teachers Nicole is about engaging the anterior and posterior chains and honoring the natural curve of the spine, we move as a whole rather than in parts.

Much like a bee pulling the pure Rasa (the juice and essence) from the heart of a wildflower. This practice will yield some beautiful nectar for all those who attend.

A beautiful part of Nicole's work is the gentle pulsing in and out of postures. More than movement, it is a way to tone and reshape the fascia, releasing the bracing we hold in our nervous systems. We shift from coping to nourishing.

It's so nice to transition from scavenging to nourishing. The mind hunts for things. Why not give it healthy things when it is hungry?! We can give the mind our breath and send it on its way to nourish our body. Put it on the mission to scan the inside of the body and bring even more ease into it. Where can we create even more space? This is a way of clearing the internal garage, sweeping all the dust out so to speak, and making things brighter. By training our mind to nourish us with air itself.

I have long loved silent meditation. It's a gift you give yourself.
~

Some are taught that silence is empty. Maybe you grew up taught or your culture said that if there is a gap, it must filled with words, with screens, or with "doing."
In Japan, there is a concept called Ma (間).
Ma, the intentional pause. The negative space that gives the music its beauty and the conversation its depth. Rather than an escape of a feeling it is a tool used to restore balance within it.

When tension rises in a relationship or a conversation, the Western instinct is often to push, to defend, or to "solve" it immediately. In an overheated mind we struggle to know peace.

To practice Ma you can, in moments of chaos, imagine or say, “Let’s take three minutes of Ma.”
* No phones
* No eye contact
* No talking
Simply sit together in the shared silence until your breathing settles and your nervous system drops out of fight or flight.

This is a quiet rebellion against the urge to react. It is a promise that says: “I value our connection more than my need to be right in this overheated moment.” 🩷🩷🩷

Why this matters for your Focus & Flow:
We often think health is just what we do on the mat or what we put in our bodies. But health is also the space and the sensory input we with care curate.
* It’s clearing the internal garage of cortisol before you speak.
* It’s being a lighthouse that remains steady while the storm of emotion passes.
* It’s choosing to be clean, clear, and connected instead of just "loud."
When you honor the Ma you are being disciplined, kind, and loving. Compassionate toner self and others. You are ensuring that when you finally do speak, your words come from a place of consciousness over recklessness
