Sri Lanka Welcomes Over 40,000 Tourists in First Four Days of February 2026

According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, Sri Lanka welcomed 40,054 tourists in the first four days of February 2026, bringing total arrivals for the year to 317,381. The highest daily arrivals, 11,817 visitors, were recorded on February 2. India led the arrivals with 5,287 tourists, followed by the United Kingdom (5,184) and Russia (3,817), highlighting strong international interest in Sri Lanka’s tourism sector.

Sri Lanka Tourist Arrivals Cross 200,000 in First 23 Days of January 2026

Sri Lanka’s tourism sector has recorded a strong start to 2026, with tourist arrivals surpassing 200,000 within the first 23 days of January.

India emerged as the leading source market, contributing 35,177 visitors, followed by Russia and the United Kingdom in second and third positions.

In comparison, January 2025 marked a historic milestone with 252,761 arrivals, the highest ever recorded for the month. Building on the current momentum, industry experts are optimistic that January 2026 will surpass last year’s record, reflecting continued growth and renewed confidence in Sri Lanka’s tourism industry.
