'Impossible Projects' is a call for ideas which aims to collect your "unfundable gems". ⁠
⁠
We want to know what your promising but "impossible-to-fund" ideas for climate transition research are, in order to explore new ways of funding. ⁠Are you a climate 'researcher' in the broadest sense, and do you have experience with public funding and its limitations? ⁠
⁠
Share your ideas for your 'Impossible Project' with us in a 3 minute audio pitch. Five ideas will be selected and will each receive a small development budget of €500 to further shape the idea into a plan which will be used to probe current constraints. ⁠
⁠
This is an invitation to think boldly and explore uncertainty. By sharing your 'Impossible Projects' idea, you contribute to KIN’s "New ways of funding" workgroup, an experimental initiative that aims to accelerate transformative and transdisciplinary research collaborations by taking away current limitations and thresholds.⁠

Last month, we proudly hosted the opening of the second edition of Seed at our event space! , alongside other innovative social design studios, is dedicated to nurturing young talent. Through this initiative, young designers have the opportunity to further develop their skills as social designers by participating in coaching or internship opportunities at some of the best social design studios in the Netherlands.⁠

It's been over a year since Foundation We Are moved from our old base at the Campina Terrein to our vibrant village in the heart of Strijp-S. Our village has been growing, and with it, more and more villagers are finding their place at our foundation community space.

One of them is Robin! Meet Robin, the facilitator of our village. Robin is a versatile cultural professional, often occupied with finding funding opportunities and writing proposals for various creatives and organisations in the field. He has the skills to create, showcase, and organize almost anything within the art and culture sector. After spending 10 years in Amsterdam, Robin sought a change of scenery and found his place in our village. Here, he not only works but also collaborates with the rest of the multidisciplinary villagers and designers at Foundation We Are. Can't find him in the village? You might spot him cruising through the city on his bike, seeking unique photo opportunities!

A few months ago, we had the pleasure of welcoming the State Secretary for Culture and Media, Fleur Gräper-van Koolwijk, to our event and exhibition space at the . It was a valuable experience discussing the importance of design and research through one of our current exhibitions at the vent space.

Our conversations extended to the critical issue of climate change and highlighted the need for collaboration between scientists and various designers/artists.With that, The Collaborations for Futures project was met with great enthusiasm and underscores the potential of interdisciplinary efforts in addressing global challenges we face today.

We're excited about the positive energy and innovative ideas that emerged from this event, and we're looking forward to continuing these vital conversations!

Check out the recording of Unexpected Encounters #3 wherein we talked about visualising climate change and the role images take in the narrative.
In this third encounter photographer Christian Clauwers, image editor Veerle van Herk and documentary maker and director Gideon Levy came together to discuss the importance and power of imagery in depicting the climate crisis.
Whether you, as an image maker, depict the implications of climate change, or you visualise complex power structures that have a responsibility to act, the way you show an image affects your audience. Images can compel, images can clarify, images can opiniate.
Marsha Simon moderated the encounter and a wonderful conversation was had with the guests and the audience.

"To everyone interested in climate action, journalism, and language: You have to be at the second edition of Unexpected Encounters!⁠

On February 8th, from 19:00 to 21:00, we will host the second event in the series of Unexpected encounters in Eindhoven .⁠
⁠
In this second encounter, we will unravel the crucial role of communication surrounding climate change. We have invited journalists, writers, and public representatives from major climate organizations, along with other experts in the field. They will discuss the role of communication in climate issues. Together, we will explore questions such as: How do we frame our knowledge of climate change? What impact does language and our beliefs have on how we understand climate change? And how can we create stories that facilitate a meaningful conversation between different points of view?⁠
