Everyone’s busy planning Christmas. We’re already thinking about March.

Ramadan 2027 starts around 8 February, and Eid al-Fitr falls around 9–10 March (the moon gets the final say). Short fasting days, cool weather, and evenings when the whole city comes out after iftar.

Where we’d go:
🇦🇫 Afghanistan: Eid crowds at the Blue Mosque in Mazar, and fairs with creaky homemade Ferris wheels 🇵🇰 Pakistan: street iftar in Lahore’s old city and Chand Raat bazaars open till the small hours 🇳🇪 Niger: Sallah horsemen riding out for the sultan 🇸🇾 Syria: licorice-juice sellers with brass jugs and iftar in old Damascus courtyard houses 🇹🇩 Chad: the “sultan’s day” in Kanem on the second day of Eid 🇧🇫 Burkina Faso: Eid prayer at the mud-built Grand Mosque of Bobo-Dioulasso 🇮🇶 Iraq: mheibes, a ring-hiding game neighbourhoods play against each other after iftar. Yes, it gets competitive. 🇺🇿 Uzbekistan: Eid and Nowruz in one trip

From sleeping in traditional yurts to watching eagle hunters and horseback games unlike anything else on earth, the World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan did not disappoint. 🇰🇬

We travelled with 2 groups of 13 travellers, experienced Kyrgyz cuisine, and witnessed one of the world’s most extraordinary celebrations of nomadic culture.

Our tour leader Ryan visited the vibrant Kalash Festival from May 13 - 16 in Pakistan!

The Kalash Festival involves intricate religious ceremonies, feasts, and dancing. The festival is dedicated to the spring and future harvests. Every village celebrates differently, meaning no experience is the same!

While Europe is in peak summer heat, July & August are some of the best travel months for regions in Africa. But, some countries are better choices than others.

Rwanda, Burundi & Uganda - the obvious winners: dry season, gorillas in the mist, chimps in the forest, and safari conditions that are pretty much on point.

Feeling a bit more adventurous? Try northern Cameroon, Chad, Somaliland, northern Nigeria & parts of Angola during these months.

And then the honest no-go’s for this period: Congo, DRC, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, Eritrea & São Tomé and Príncipe. There’s more rain, humidity, and extreme heat that make travel less enjoyable.
