There’s something timeless about the boats in Norheimsund 🤍 Watching them move through the narrow waters makes it easy to imagine how life used to be here, when these same routes were the main connection between small coastal communities in Vestland.

Norheimsund is a small fjord town in western Norway, about 1.5–2 hours from Bergen.

People traveled to and from here by boat - for trade, family visits, church or markets… Boats, fishing, and maritime transport have historically been central to daily life here. The area is known for traditional boat building and preservation of older wooden boat culture.

Our guides take you to this special gem, with a visit to the Sandven hotel. Originally built in 1857, this hotel is one of the oldest in the Hardanger fjord area.

May adds something extra to it all: brighter days, quieter seas, and that feeling that everything is slowly waking up again after winter.

Behind every great adventure is serious preparation❗️

The unexpected is always a part of the journey and we believe confidence comes from being ready for it.

✅ That’s why our team recently completed comprehensive FIRST AID TRAINING !

At Smith & Schneider Guideservice, we’re always working to raise our standards and our latest first aid training course is another step in that direction.

🩵 In kayaking, one of the most important skills is knowing how to react if someone gets tired, cold or disoriented in the water and recognizing dangerous situations when they might seem harmless.
🩵 Cold water can affect the body very quickly, even in mild weather, so knowing basic first aid response is important.
🩵 Most accidents in outdoor activities are small injuries that become serious if not treated early.
🩵 Many outdoor incidents become more serious because help is not immediately available.

Learning the skills needed to handle a wide range of first aid situations needed 🌊 in both water 🏔️ and mountain environments, now our coaches are even more ready to help you.

Norwegian 🇳🇴 nature gives us many amazing experiences, but it also asks us to be responsible and aware of what we do. That is why first aid training is so important…

From fjords to mountain paths, your experience matters and so does your peace of mind. 😌

For us, it means we are better prepared to take care of our guests and give them safer adventures - so you can focus on the experience and enjoy your time outside!

🩷 The best adventures are the ones where you can truly relax and enjoy - knowing you’re in capable hands.

After 12 months away, the Statsraad Lehmkuhl returns home to Bergen. This was a rare historical moment to witness !

You’re missing the best side of Norway 🇳🇴 if you only visit in summer 😏…

〰️ There are over 40 😲 national parks across the country…
but Vestlandet is where things get unreal 🤗

Fjords carved by glaciers. Mountains rising straight from icy water. Landscapes that feel almost untouched !

〰️ Some say the 📍best spots for kayaking during the cold are:
• Jostedalsbreen National Park
• Folgefonna National Park
• Jotunheimen National Park
• Hardangervidda National Park

Would you dare to see it icy like this? 🌊✨

〰️ And if You’re not a kayaker yourself, we have other tours we offer where You still get to see the fjords and experience Bergen and it’s surroundings to the fullest 🩵

There is a reason why seeing or hearing water calms the nervous system.😊🌊

When You are surrounded by the open blue space, 🩷 Your heart rate slows, breathing deepens and thoughts stop racing. You feel it instantly. Not only that, but the water sharpens You ⬇️

Over time the difference becomes clear. ❌ Begginers fight water. Experienced paddlers read it 👇

They notice how the wind brushes the surface, how current alters the water's texture, how the kayak responds before they even need to correct.😏

Real control comes from awareness.🧐

✅ Mastering kayaking is learning to stay steady, while everything moves beneath you. It is paying attention without distraction.

💭 In a world designed to keep us overstimulated, gliding across open water keeps us feeling present in the moment. Soaking in the beauty that surrounds us and learning the secret language of nature.

🇳🇴 This is why Norway should be Your next adventure 🇳🇴

✅ Cultural Echoes - Small villages preserve ancient cuisine, dialects and crafts. Your visit keeps these traditions alive!

✅ Fjords as classrooms - Did You know Norway's fjords are natural archives of centuries old ecosystems? Paddling here teaches You more than just kayaking.

✅ Nature as a teacher - Outdoor adventures sharpen observation skills, problem-solving, and even Your patience. These skills carry over into Your everyday life.

✅ Mountains tell stories - Each peak hides legends of Vikings, explorers, smugglers and heroes. Trekking isn't just an exercise, it is a walk through history.

✅ Little known fact - Spending the day in varied landscapes boosts creative thinking and idea generation! For example, a study found that hikers scored about 50% higher on a creativity test after several days immersed in nature, without technology.

So what are you waiting for? 😉
