Denne helgen er det: Lofoten Art Open!

Flere atelierer, verksteder og gallerier i Lofoten holder åpent denne helgen for publikum! Du finner de ulike aktørene på Reine og Nusfjord, på veien mellom Stamsund og Leknes, Kvalnes, Henningsvær, Kabelvåg og Svolvær. Lofoten Art Open 2024 skjer lørdag 7. og søndag 8. september, kl. 12.00–19.00.

Lofoten Art Galleries- LAG tok i 2022 initiativ til å starte Lofoten Art Open. Du kan lære mer om de ulike aktørene i LAG via linken under.

After years of hard work 🛠️ - we can finally announce that Edelweiss 🌼 will start a winter route ❄️ to Evenes for the upcoming winter season. 🎿

Flights between Zurich and Evenes ✈️ will start up every Saturday from mid-December 📅 to the end of March. Safe travels! 🌍

Happy International Women's Day! 🥳 Here represented by the Fisherman's Wife statue in Svolvær.

The Fisherman's Wife, or as we say in the north, "feskarkjærringa", is a bronze sculpture that was created by the sculptor Per Ung (1933 - 2013) and stands at the end of the pier at the entrance to Svolvær.

The Fisherman's Wife has played a central role in the coastal culture of Norway for centuries. Their contribution to the well-being of the family and the local community has been crucial, but often underestimated.

Here are some of the key areas where the fisherman's wife has had a major impact:

🐟 Fish processing
🏪 Shopkeeping
👶 Childcare
👵 Care for the elderly
🪢 Community cohesion
🧶 Handicrafts
🍲 Responsible for preparing fish and other local ingredients for meals, bringing the food culture into coming generations
🌊 Bearers of oral traditions, such as stories and legends about the sea, fishing and coastal culture

The role of the fisherman's wife has undergone major changes in recent decades. More women now work in the fishing industry, and there are better welfare systems available. However, the historical importance of the fisherman's wife in coastal Norway is undeniable. Their efforts have helped to shape the coastal culture and ensure the survival of coastal communities for generations.
