Last summer, we literally traveled across all of Norway with the Scottish duo Martin Compston and Phil MacHugh. On assignment from the wonderful team over at Tern TV, we provided production support for Martin Compston's Norwegian Fling, now available on BBC Scotland, BBC Two, BBC iPlayer, and NRK.
We started in Oslo and made our way westwards to Bergen via Seljord, Hardanger and Austevoll, onwards to Voss, Gudvangen and Stegastein, northwards to Åndalsnes and Ålesund, from Molde via the Atlantic Ocean Road towards Trondheim (and Hell), before crossing the Arctic Circle and visiting Bardu, Tromsø, and finally reaching North Cape for the finale. All while discovering small places, hidden gems, exciting activities, and interesting communities along the way.
Martin and Phil explore the broad spectrum of Norwegian society with some of their itinerary including a visit to Parliament, preparing smalahove (sheep's head) and Michelin-level restaurant food, undergoing offshore survival training, encountering wolves, building massive bonfires, going dog-sledding, roller-skiing, stagediving at a black metal concert, fighting fires, meeting a famous Norwegian pop artist, participating in the 17th of May parade, becoming hardened fishermen, and so much more.
We at Film in Norway are grateful to the team at Tern TV for entrusting us with the opportunity to provide production support. We would also like to thank the many people, companies, and communities who contributed to this outstanding production.
