Pokhara Baidam Sangetik Yuva Club was established in 2012, to be the base for all musicians here in lakeside music scene, however it is not limited to lakeside only, it is accessible to all musicians in Pokhara. Initially, the club was started from the local musicians who performed in Baidam, a small area of lakeside. In its infancy the club was aimed to discuss new ideas to help musicians and pro
blems that may arise for musicians while working professionally. However the vision of the club has taken the smaller concept to fit to a bigger picture of supporting musician’s way of life and their role within the Tourism industry. Within the Tourism industry in Pokhara, it cannot be denied that the music scene has a strong place. The music scene undeniably lures tourist to the dance floor every night. Keeping this in mind, professionalism is most crucial to every musician that performs at any establishment. This professionalism can only be maintained if musicians are competent in the musical abilities that are demanded by their profession. Within the tourism grounds the club aims to support professional musicians by helping to understand the skills and qualities they are require while performing in the stage. But this process is not very straight forward as the scene keeps changing. So the approach that the club takes is to help musician get better in their musical abilities so that musicians are able to automatically adapt themselves to the demands of tourism industry. The overall objective of the club is to help musicians integrate their musicianship to all possible aspects of a musician’s life. Currently the club members help each other at improving their musical skills to become a holistic musician, someone that can play various roles of musician such as being a performer, teacher, backup artist, inter-band collaborators and more. On the long run however the club wants to be able to build a music academy where musicians can fill practical or theoretical gaps in their musical knowledge, train to become music teachers, attend workshops from talented musicians, take part in cross genre music collaboration projects and identify themselves by creating their own original music. To summarise we want to help aspiring musicians take music as a career and be able to live as a musicians.
