17-Day Manaslu Circuit Trek Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Kathmandu
Welcome to Nepal! Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. You will have time to relax and prepare for your Himalayan adventure.
Day 2 – Kathmandu Sightseeing
After breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu. Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, an important historical area featuring traditional architecture and centuries-old heritage.
After lunch, drive to Swayambhunath, famously known as the Monkey Temple. Located on a hill, it offers beautiful views across Kathmandu Valley and is an important Buddhist and Hindu religious site.
Day 3 – Kathmandu to Machha Khola (930 m)
Today, we drive toward Machha Khola, the starting point of our trek. The journey passes through beautiful countryside, rivers, hills, and traditional settlements. Along the route, you may get your first views of the spectacular Manaslu Himalaya.
Day 4 – Machha Khola to Jagat (1,410 m)
Our trek begins. We follow the Buri Gandaki River toward Tatopani, where you may enjoy the natural hot springs depending on the weather and conditions. We then cross a suspension bridge and continue toward Jagat.
Distance: Approximately 18 km
Day 5 – Jagat to Deng (1,860 m)
The trail passes through several traditional villages where Tibetan Buddhist culture becomes increasingly visible. We continue through Ghatta and Philim before following the Manaslu trail north toward Deng.
Distance: Approximately 19.5 km
Day 6 – Deng to Namrung (2,630 m)
Today we continue through a beautiful mountain landscape with Buddhist prayer stones, forests, villages, and rivers. As we approach Namrung, the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic. We may also see local apple gardens and taste some regional products.
Distance: Approximately 17 km
Day 7 – Namrung to Shyala (3,500 m)
We gain significant altitude today while trekking through rhododendron forests and traditional mountain villages. The trail passes through Lho Gaon, where we stop for lunch before continuing toward Shyala.
From Shyala, enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks and Mt. Manaslu.
Distance: Approximately 14 km
Day 8 – Shyala to Sama Gaon (3,530 m) via Pung Gyen Gompa (4,040 m)
Wake early to enjoy the magnificent sunrise over Mt. Manaslu. After breakfast, we take a rewarding side trip to Pung Gyen Gompa at 4,040 m.
The monastery and surrounding landscape offer an unforgettable Himalayan experience. After exploring the area, we continue toward Sama Gaon, one of the most important settlements in the Manaslu region.
Distance: Approximately 15 km
Day 9 – Acclimatization Day in Sama Gaon
Today is dedicated to acclimatization. Your guide will recommend a suitable excursion depending on weather and group conditions. Possible options include a hike toward Birendra Lake, nearby monasteries, or the Manaslu Base Camp area.
This rest and acclimatization day helps your body prepare for higher elevations.
Day 10 – Sama Gaon to Samdo (3,860 m)
Today is a relatively short trekking day because we are entering higher elevations. The trail gradually climbs through an impressive Himalayan landscape toward Samdo, a beautiful settlement close to the Tibetan border.
Distance: Approximately 7.8 km
Day 11 – Samdo to Dharamsala (4,460 m)
We continue toward Dharamsala, also known as the Larkya Phedi area. The trail climbs steadily, offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.
Dharamsala is our final overnight stop before crossing the Larkya La Pass.
Distance: Approximately 6.7 km
Day 12 – Dharamsala to Bhimtang (3,600 m) via Larkya La Pass
This is one of the most exciting and challenging days of the trek. We start early and gradually climb toward Larkya La Pass.
After reaching the pass, we are rewarded with breathtaking views of Himalayan peaks, including Himlung Himal, Kang Guru, and Annapurna II.
We then make a long descent toward Bhimtang for our overnight stay.
Distance: Approximately 15.8 km
Day 13 – Bhimtang to Goa (2,510 m)
Today the trail descends through beautiful forests and mountain landscapes toward Goa. After the demanding Larkya La crossing, this is a more relaxed day as we continue lower into the valley.
Distance: Approximately 11 km
Day 14 – Goa to Besisahar via Tilije (2,300 m)
We continue downhill toward Tilije, where we stop for lunch. From there, we travel by vehicle toward Besisahar, the gateway to the Manaslu and Annapurna regions.
Day 15 – Besisahar to Kathmandu
After breakfast, we drive back to Kathmandu. Enjoy the changing scenery as we leave the mountains behind and return to the Kathmandu Valley.
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening.
Day 16 – Free Day in Kathmandu
Enjoy a free day in Kathmandu. You can relax, explore the local markets, purchase souvenirs, or enjoy Nepalese food and culture at your own pace.
Day 17 – Departure from Kathmandu
Your unforgettable Himalayan adventure comes to an end today. Our representative will transfer you to the airport for your onward journey.
