Manaslu Circuit Trek 9 Days — Day-by-Day Itinerary, Permits, and Why This Is Nepal's Best-Kept Trekking Secret
Want to know exactly what happens on each day of the 9-day Manaslu Circuit Trek? Here is the complete itinerary from Sherpa Expedition and Trekking:
📅 Day 1 — Drive Kathmandu to Soti Khola (700m). Scenic drive along the Budi Gandaki River through terraced hillsides and rural villages.
📅 Day 2 — Trek Soti Khola to Machhakhola (870m). Follow the river valley through subtropical forest with multiple river crossings on suspension bridges.
📅 Day 3 — Trek Machhakhola to Jagat (1,340m). The valley narrows dramatically as the trail passes hot springs and enters the Manaslu Conservation Area.
📅 Day 4 — Trek Jagat to Deng to Namrung (2,630m). Cross into the restricted zone. Tibetan Buddhist culture becomes visible — mani walls, prayer flags, and chortens line the trail.
📅 Day 5 — Trek Namrung to Samagaon (3,530m). Stunning views of Mt. Manaslu (8,163m) and Ngadi Chuli (7,871m). Visit Lho Village with its ancient monastery. Optional side trip to Pungen Glacier for close-up Manaslu views.
📅 Day 6 — Acclimatization day at Samagaon. Optional day hike to Birendra Tal (3,644m) — a turquoise glacial lake — or Manaslu Base Camp (4,400m). Visit Samagaon's Buddhist monasteries.
📅 Day 7 — Trek Samagaon to Samdo to Dharamsala/Larkya Phedi (4,460m). Cross Larkya Bazaar (seasonal Tibetan trading post). Final settlement before the high pass.
📅 Day 8 — Cross Larkya La Pass (5,106m), descend to Bimtang (3,590m). The most challenging and most rewarding day. Panoramic views of Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, and Annapurna II from the pass. Long descent through alpine valley.
📅 Day 9 — Trek Bimtang to Dharapani, drive to Besisahar and onward to Kathmandu. Descend through lush forests and connect to the Annapurna Circuit route. Vehicle transfer back to the capital.
