📢 Video 2 – Trying to get the attention of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB)
The Government of Nepal talks about providing subsidized loans to Nepalis returning from abroad who want to do something productive at home. After spending 8 years in the Gulf, I returned to Nepal, saw huge potential in the tourism sector, obtained a government-issued trekking guide license, and affiliated myself with a registered company.
Despite having around Rs. 6 lakh worth of shares and seeking only a modest Rs. 3 lakh loan, I was completely rejected. In fact, I was told to forget subsidized loans because, according to current policies, self-employed professionals like trekking guides are not even considered capable of getting a normal loan.
I have exchanged countless emails with ADBL, Nabil Bank, and Nepal Rastra Bank, but no solution has been offered. Therefore, I am now raising this issue publicly through social media. If necessary, I will continue to escalate this matter to bring change—not just for myself, but for many aspiring entrepreneurs in tourism who want to contribute to Nepal but lack support from the system.
If Nepal truly wants foreign returnees to invest their experience and energy at home, policies must support self-employed individuals, not shut the door on them.
