Bhutan is an enchanting Kingdom of Bhutan that seems like a land that time has forgotten, Druk Yul – The Land of Thunder Dragon, surrounded by pristine natural environment and breathtaking splendors. It is a kingdom vibrant with rich cultural heritage and traditions. The land which is covered by verdant forest, lush green valleys, sparkling streams, wonderful mountains covered with perennial snow. The land so enchanting that many have rightfully compared it to the “Hidden Shangri-la”. The lost Paradise-That land of Thunder Dragon- Bhutan with the belief that has a great deal to offer to the rest of the world… The beauty of the snow- laden Himalayan Mountains, rising abruptly from the plains of the Indian sub continent is a sight beyond compare. The traveler’s experience the awe- inspiring wonders of the beauty of nature in its own unspoiled form.

Itinerary Overview
Day 1:Arrive Paro by Druk Overnight Kichu Resort or simialr.

Day 2:Paro Sightseeing - visit the ruined fortress of Drugyel dzong which still attracts visitors due to the strategic location of the fort.Proceed through the beautiful valley to the watch tower or locally known as Ta-Dzong. It was housed into the National museum in the 1960s by the third King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck A short walk downhill to the Rinpung Dzong which serves as the administrative center and school for monks. Walk further down crossing the traditional bridge into Paro Town .Evening drive 2 hours to Thimphu (65km). Overnight at Hotel River view or similar.

Day 3:AM sightseeing - visit the Indigenous hospital where traditional old art of healing is still practiced, Art & Craft school, National library, Royal goldsmith workshop and Handicraft centers. PM visit the Memorial chorten built in the memory of the late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, 15 century Changangkha monastery, Motithang mini zoo to see the rare "Takin" national animal of Bhutan and drive further down with good view of the Thimphu valley. Visit the new Drupthob nunnery temple and free time in the market. Overnight same.

Day 4:Drive 3 hours to Wangduephodrang via Punakha crossing the Dochula pass 3100 meters. The drive from the pass is all the way downhill dropping to the lower and warmer valleys of lobesa. Visit the Punakha Dzong which served as an old capital of Bhutan . This remarkable fortress is built between two rivers and has survived many glacial floods and fire. Every year during the month of February a procession known as the Punakha Serda takes place to commemorate the victory
over the Tibetans.

Day 5: Day excursion to the Gangtey Gompa valley at an altitude of 2800 meters. The only Nyingmapa monastery in western Bhutan is located here. This beautiful valley is also home to the rare Black Necked Cranes migrating from the Tibetan plateau to escape the harsh winter. Currently there are 200 to 300 cranes residing in this valley and the Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN) is taking every measures to ensure the safety of the Cranes. While the cranes reside in the winter valley for 4/5 months the village folks are not allowed to make loud noises or fish in the river that runs through the valley. Explore the fascinating glacier valley and return to the Resort.

Day 6: Today will be a long drive almost 6 / 7 hours crossing 3 passes over 3000 meters. The route offers magnificent views of the Himalayas and beautiful landscape through scattered hamlets and forest of rhododendrons and pine. Picnic lunch will be served at the 18 century Chendebji chorten. After one and half hour arrive at a small town known as Trongsa meaning new village. The town mainly consists of fresh Tibetan refugees but the most impressive of all is the Trongsa Dzong. The whole of eastern Bhutan was con trolled from this fortress during the mid 17th century. Visitors are not allowed inside the building. Proceed another 2 hours to Bumthang visiting the Chume weaving center. Overnight at Karma Tobden GuestHouse or similar.

Day 7: Bumthang altitude 2600m, has an individuality that charms its visitors and separates it from other regions. Comprised of four smaller valleys, the deeply spiritual region of Bumthang is shrouded in religious legend. Sightseeing - Visit the Jakar Dzong, 7th century Jambay Lhakhang, Kurjey monastery, Tamshing and Kunchosum monastery. This sightseeing is a round trip so it is more interesting done on foot. Overnight same.

Day 8 : Excursion 2 hours to Ura village and visit the new Ura monastery. On the way visit the Mebartso meaning burning lake. Stroll around the village and return back to Guest house. Evening walk to the swiss farm where apple juice, cider, cheese etc... are made.

Day 9: Drive back to Wangduephodrang. Overnight at Wangdi Kichu Resort or similar.

Day 10: Drive 3/4 hours to Paro via Lobesa and a short walk through farm houses and fields to Chimme Lhakhang. This monastery was built in the 15 century and dedicated to the famous Lam Drukpa Kunley or divine mad man. He is one of the most famous saints in Bhutan and his temple is visited mostly by childless couples. Lunch at Thimphu and drive to Paro visiting the oldest building in Bhutan , the Simtokha Dzong. It now serves as a Buddhist university. Overnight Kichu Resort or similar.

Day 11: Day hike to Taktsang monastery. Horses can be arranged with an extra cost. The hike which is all the way uphill takes about 2 /3 hours through villages and pine forests. The monastery clings to a huge granite cliff 800 meters from the Paro valley.. Stroll back to Resort. Evening at leisure. Overnight Kichu Resort or similar.

Day 12: Transfer to airport for departure.

Introduction



Responding to a joint press conference, with several senior officers from the Chinese government and the Consular General of Nepal in Tibet, an announcement was made that the Rasuwagadi-Kerung border crossing, the only functioning border linking Nepal to China’s autonomous region Tibet, is now open to foreign travellers as well who wish to travel to Kailash via the “new overland route”. Issued by the Consulate General of Nepal, this major border, which is now open, moderates the travelling distance for pilgrims from all around the world. Since it ceases the compulsion to enter Tibet via flights, this tour has made Mt. Kailash easily accessible from the outskirts of Nepal.



After the closure of the Kodari border due to heavy damages received since the 2015 earthquake, this alternative route benefits the travellers who yearn to embark on a journey sans the flight hassle. We introduces the Overland Kailash Tour via Kerung, a 14 days Yatra from Kathmandu via Kerung, Saga, Mansarovar, Darchen and Kailash. The Kerung border is located 175 km from Kathmandu and lies in the Rasuwagadi district of Nepal. Due to narrow and basic road construction, it is feasible to estimate that it takes around 8-9 hours from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi via Timure. Kerung is elevated around 3,000 meters height and staying one day for acclimatization assists to alter your body in high altitude. From Kerung, we take scenic drive to the villages of Saga, Mansarovar and Darchen with picturesque Mount Kailash surroundings and beautiful Tibetan settlements. Our well-prepared itinerary has been crafted according to our client’s requirements from acclimatization to accommodation to transportation, food and other needful information. Our experienced cook provides the best of Vegetarian Indian meals and the staff of Shakti Tours will ensure to make you trip a successful and memorable one!



Tentative Program



Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu (1300m). Group shall be met at the airport and transfer provided to Hotel.

Day 02: Darshan Of Pashupatinath Temple & Sleeping Vishnu at Budhanilkantha. The day is free for final preparation of the Yatra.

Day 03: After breakfast, drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (122km/9hrs).

Day 04: Early morning drive from Syabrubesi to Timure (1hr). Cross over China border and proceed to Kerung (26km/1 ½ hrs).

Day 05: Stay an entire day at Kerung for acclimatization. Visit the only Hindu / Tibetan style temple at the Kerung Bazaar.

Day 06: Drive to SAGA (4600m).

Day 07: Drive to Lake Manasarovar (4650m) with the Parikarma Of the Lake (478km/ 9hrs).

Day 08: AM Stay at Lake Manasarovar for Puja & Havan (4600m) PM Drive to Darchen (40km/ 1 ½ hrs).

Day 09: Drive to Trek starting point. Trek to Dirapuk (4860m).

Day 10: Trek to Zhuthulpuk (4760m/18km).

Day 11: End Kailash Kora. Drive to Saga (4600m).

Day 12: Drive to Kathmandu via Kerung.

This new requirement is issued by the Thai Immigration Bureau to ensure a smoother and more efficient arrival process.

📝 How to complete your TDAC registration:

3️⃣ Submit the form and receive a confirmation email
4️⃣ Present the confirmation and your travel documents to the immigration officer upon arrival in Thailand
