Patan Durbar Square – A Living Museum of Art & Culture

Patan Durbar Square, located in the heart of Lalitpur city in the Kathmandu Valley, is one of Nepal’s most treasured cultural heritage sites. Known locally as “Mangal Bazar”, this ancient royal courtyard is a masterpiece of Newari architecture, traditional craftsmanship, and centuries-old history. Walking through this square feels like stepping back in time, where every temple, palace, and stone carving tells a story.

What You Will See at Patan Durbar Square

✨ The Royal Palace Complex
The former residence of the Malla Kings, the palace grounds feature beautiful courtyards such as Mul Chowk, Sundari Chowk, and Keshav Narayan Chowk, filled with fine wood carvings, stone statues, and traditional windows that showcase the skill of local artisans.

✨ Krishna Mandir
This iconic three-storey stone temple, built in the 17th century, is the pride of Patan. Famous for its 21 stone pinnacles, it is dedicated to Lord Krishna and is one of the finest examples of Shikhara-style architecture in Nepal.

✨ Hiranya Varna Mahavihar (Golden Temple)
