Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve is the only hunting reserve in Nepal located in the Dhaulagiri mountain range of west Nepal. The hunting reserve consists of the forests, marshlands (called dhor) and flat meadows (called patan). Built in 1564 by King Mahendra Malla, Taleju temple was modeled on the shape of Yantra, a form of mystical mandala with magical powers suggested by Goddess Taleju herself. Temple can be visited from inside once a year by Hindus only on the ninth day of Dashain festival. Everyone else can see the temple from outside the walls.

Shanti Stupa or the World Peace pagoda, sits on a hill above Pokhara city. While it resembles some of Nepal's ancient Buddhist stupas, it was actually built in 1973 at the instigation of a Japanese monk.
