Tumlingtar Airport is one of Nepal’s oldest domestic airports, built in the early 1960s. It serves as the gateway to the Makalu-Barun National Park and treks such as Makalu Base Camp and Arun Valley Trek. The airport sits on a plateau above the Arun River and provides stunning views of surrounding hills and the Himalayas.

Our Makalu Base Camp group has safely reached a safety place today after being out of contact for five days. In this area, there is neither internet nor phone connection — no means of communication at all.
This situation has truly been very difficult and challenging.
