I guess this is the most remote trek i ever did in my life. This is Kshetti (chhetti) village of Darchula. It is often called last village of Darchula or Api Nampa conservation Area. This trek can be linked with Api Himal trek as well.
Kshetti plays a central role in one of the most intense, lesser-known religious pilgrimages in Nepal—the Surma Sarovar Jatra.
Every even year of the Nepali calendar, the men of Kshetti and nearby Ghajir villages act as Bire (pilgrims). Every four years marks the biggest Bire festival.
They embark on a grueling six-day barefoot journey through harsh mountain passes to reach the sacred Surma Sarovar lake in neighboring Bajhang district, following the mythological footsteps of the goddess Surma Devi.
For an explorer seeking true raw authenticity, rare linguistic heritage, and untouched Himalayan wilderness: This place is for you.
It might lack comfort but the explorer who truly want to see lives in the himalayas, this can be the best choice.
