During our trek to Meme Pokhari, two lovely dogs joined us from the second day. They stayed with us throughout the journey, trekking alongside us, sharing our campsites, and even sleeping near us at night. Their loyalty and cheerful presence made the trek more enjoyable and memorable. It was wonderful to have them with us and we # truly felt like part of our trekking team.

A shepherd spends day in the jungle herding goats and sheep across hills and open fields. Loyal dogs accompany the herder, helping to protect the flock and keep the animals together. After a long day, the shepherd rests in the field while the dogs stay nearby, sleeping beside their owner and watching over the flock. Surrounded by nature, they share a peaceful and hardworking life in the wilderness.

On the way to Taksar Village, found a natural spring in the middle of the jungle. Surrounded by trees and accompanied by the soothing songs of birds, refreshed myself by drinking the cool spring water and washing my face. The peaceful moment erased all my tiredness and filled me with renewed energy.

🌿 Pachyu and Mohosi

In many Gurung villages, Mohosi is performed by the Pachyu, especially when it is related to death rituals.

🔹 Who is Pachyu?
• Pachyu is the traditional ritual priest of the Gurung community
• Handles death rites, purification (suddhi), ancestor rituals
• Communicates with spirits, ancestors, and village deities

🔹 Why Pachyu does Mohosi

When a person dies outside the village, Mohosi becomes:
• A ritual purification, not a punishment
• A way to bring the soul back symbolically to the village
• A process to remove ritual impurity (asuddha)

Because of this, only Pachyu is ritually authorized to:
• Perform the chants and offerings
• Declare the family and village ritually clean
• Complete Mohosi properly
