The 'Heritage @ Mallaj' is a 110 years old property perched above Parbat, Beni at 1,205 meters, 2 hours out of Pokhara, now renovated to serve discerning guests. The property was originally constructed in 1904 by Colonel Tej Bahadur Malla, bringing craftsmen and artisans from Kathmandu to bring to life a design of the then famous architects Kumar and Kishor Narsingh Rana. Unfortunately he never go

t to live in the property, as he was posted to Palpa as Bada Hakim as it was being completed. However his wife and children did live here for many years before moving to Kumari, Bhairahawa around 1960. After which the property lay empty and slowly nature started to overpower the creation of man and the property deteriorated and became dilapidated. In 2012, the great grandson of the Colonel, Mukunda Malla, having held a management position in a premier 5 star property in Kathmandu along with heading DHL Nepal as Country Head and being the CEO of SCT, decided to take the bold step of stepping into the heritage of his forefathers and climbing back up to Mallaj to renovate and bring life back to this magnificant property. After over two years of pain-staking effort to retain the best of what his forefathers had created, whilst upgrading the amenities to the needs and expectations of today's travelers, 'The Heritage @ Mallaj' is resurrected and ready to serve! The main building, locally known as the Colonel's Durbar, has five comfortable spacious rooms, each with a fully functional fireplace, a twin set of dining rooms and a 'Mallounge' with TV, Karaoke, Board Games and Card Tables. The building also has modern restroom facilities with hot and cold showers. On the spacious grounds there are eight luxurious tents in the 'Malltent' cluster with their own restrooms and shower facilities. In addition, the property also has a conference hall, that can easily accomodate 20 to 25 people, for those who want to mix a little business with pleasure. The entire property also offers free wifi to keep the guests connected to the world. The cuisine served at the property is also unique. In addition to the delicious Nepali, Indian and Continental Cuisine, the property also bakes its own fresh bread and hot pizzas in its firewood oven, along with maintaining its own organic vegetable garden from which it gets most of its produce. The Heritage @ Mallaj is the perfect place to rejuvinate and re-energize after a trek in the Annapurna region, or from the trek of our normal lives. Weather is so unpredictable - but the idea is to be together with like minded people & enjoy the moment!

It rained so much that morning, guests were not sure whether they would like to move on as planned at 9:30 towards Mustang -

We said “Make yourself at home - just leave when you feel comfortable or even stay back - just let us know if lunch needs to be made”!

Henry & Iain have been on the road on their bikes for 18th months. Nepal is the 27th country they have visited so far. They are both on world tour on their bikes.

Iain says “Nepal is fast becoming my personal favourite. The mountains and landscapes are incredible of course, but the warmth and kindness shown to us by the people has been overwhelming.”

It has been a privilege & treat to stay at the Heritage at Mallaj, a real oasis after several days on the chaotic roads.

Everything about our short stay at the Heritage was wonderful, from cold beer and amazing food to the great conversation and comfortable beds.

I wish we were staying longer, but I know I will come back!

5 mins drive from the Heritage - there is a newly built helipad in our neighbourhood. Our guests landed there on 19th April - although, the test landing was done by a army helicopter, our guests arrived on the first commercial flight to land at this helipad.

Once again it’s orange season at Baskharka! One of the activities that many of our guest enjoy is the 45 minute hike to Baskharka to walk in the orange orchards and handpick fresh oranges right from the trees. A truly unique and ‘delicious’ experience!

We are greatly honoured to be the official hotel & host stay of delegates of International Parbat Society (अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय पर्वत समाज) 4th Convention which was held on 14 Oct 2023 (असोज २७, २०८०) at Mallaj.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr Jhalak K.C (President) and the entire Executive Body of International Parbat Society for deciding to hold the Convention at Mallaj & The Heritage as their official hotel.
